The chemical scenario is the most frightening of the entire deal. By declaring regime change, he may feel he has nothing to lose. I've heard with the warmer weather it's more difficult for our troops to wear chemical gear. Don't know how valid that is in reality, but it makes sense.

I did read an interesting piece tonight on one of MadIvan's threads pointing out that the strong winds do help render the chems and bios less effective. I hadn't considered that, and
nothing is acceptable about Saddam using chems and bios... but for what it's worth.

Don't know how valid that is in reality, but it makes sense.NBC gear is dreadful to wear in any weather, but in heat is the worst. It's tolerable in cold weather, but when you have to put that mask on, it's stifling and miserable.
