FoxNews Alert just reported that Iraqi troops have left Baghdad with heavy artillary and are heading south to the Kuwaiti boarder. More troops with SCUD missle launchers are heading west. The thought is that Saddam is about to attack our troops.
This is breaking news and details are few and far between.

I suspect this has already been stated, but, Saddam would NOT do something like that. Come on. He is a good guy who is a victim of the mean President of the USA and the PM of England.

Yes, they may achieve a tactical advantage in the short run ...at the beginning...But... It may well be that the targets of our attack aircraft may be "troops in the open" versus a deeply dug-in defensive ring around Baghdad. Assuming you're right that We are going to take over this country, and I think you are, I just hope we're not letting him deploy while we're pursuing a seeming hopeless diplomatic route. There's no question as to the final result, but I don't want to see him gain even small tactical advantages which will cost American lives.
I say that recognizing I don't have the information to determine if that's a real risk.

I have my irony meter pegged and smoking on this one...
Suppose one of Saddam's SCUD's polishes the Dome of the Rock off of the Temple Mound, clearing the way for the rebuild of Solomon's Temple...

"Is it just me or would this be the perfect opportunity for Bush to open the campaign by saying that we thought the Iraqis were priming for a first strike." You are not the only one who has thought that, but it would be a mistake on our part to bite, unless we are ready right now to start this war and not end it until Saddam is removed from Baghdad.

One should do it. Remember, those Tridents carry 8 warheads with a yield of 475 kilotons apiece.

The UN isn't setting our foreign policy, Bush is. He is just inviting the UN to join along, and they are stupid enough to decline.
The train has already left the station. It takes a while to accelerate, and at the moment is still moving slowly enough for the UN, France, Germany, etc. to jump on. But we are not waiting for them. The train will reach full speed soon, on our schedule, no-one elses.

Stop screaming about pandora's box.. that was a myth of the cold war.. MAD.. US and Russia would never go toe to toe.. a few nukes going off the Middle East or on the Korean Penisula is very real possiblity.

Thank you, valleygal! I'm praying for all our troops and for the wisdom of our political leaders, as I know all Freepers are. I'm so glad this was posted this evening, but haven't told my husband who is comfortably watching a basketball game. I don't want him worrying tonight - one person per household is enough!

That was an odd press conference, Pres Bush's speech with Ireland was strained, and he cancelled his plans to attend the luncheon on Capitol Hill when he was already in the car.
That speaks volumes!
I am so sick of those six countries I could scream!

This time is different -- Sharon has said he won't sit by and let them attack Israel and not retaliate! If Iraq thinks Israel will retaliate if attacked, why would Iraq still attack Israel? Do they really think their Arab (muslim) neighbors would side with Iraq against Israel?

Werent they restricted to 3 or 4 warheads a piece by the Start treaties or didnt that apply to our subs? Either way you are right that would in fact be plenty.

The UN is about as useless as tits on a boar hog, why should the US depend on a country called Camaroon(where the hecks that) for our national security. Its just plain stupid.
