FoxNews Alert just reported that Iraqi troops have left Baghdad with heavy artillary and are heading south to the Kuwaiti boarder. More troops with SCUD missle launchers are heading west. The thought is that Saddam is about to attack our troops.
This is breaking news and details are few and far between.

I think they saw the blantant hostility between the Turks and the Kurds and decided they were going to get caught in the crossfire.

do we need a un resolution to return fire if fired upon? Did Clinton need a UN resolution to try to forestall the impeachmetn vote?

What about the Kurks and Turds?
To: CatOwner
I wouldn't be too sure about that. It'd be a very convenient way to destroy any chemical or biological stockpiles, and
not retaliating in kind would weaken the whole US deterrent posture.
On the other hand, Israel would probably beat us to it.

Thanks for the chemical gear info; I thought that's what I heard and my step-son had told me the gear was awful, especially in the heat. But I thought a poster on another thread a few days ago told me it didn't matter and I wasn't sure what to believe.

So do you think he's going to risk a pre-emptive attack, at least at this point? I don't. Secondly, the psy-ops we've been running that have the troops ready to surrender at the sound of a gunshot would seem to indicate no desire by those on the front lines to commit suicide.
To: knak
why is fox the only one with this story? Because it hurts the liberal pansies feeeeeelings to talk about Saddam lying that he had no scuds. They probably will say Saddam really meant to say "spuds," we must be more "understanding."

Ignorance is Blix says the Iraqis have no scuds, so that is a mistake. LOL!! That's a good tag line

why is fox the only one with this story? Because NBC decided not to mention it after Brokaw broke it on the NBC Nightly "News" (which was done only because he's at ground zero), and ABC doesn't have a 24-hour cable news service (they've got it up on their web site; links are somewhere on this thread).

MadIvan's right about the strong winds helping to more quickly dissipate chemicals, etc. At least there's an upside to these winds affecting the Iraq region.

WASTE THE M$%HERF^&KERS ..... I can't help but wonder if that's what Sadaam is thinking. He's winning the diplomatic battle. Preemtively hitting these units, particularly the scuds should be an imperative of ours, but it's one we'd pay a diplomatic price for if it was a limited strike, in which case the diplomacy continues, rather than the start of a full scale attack.
It's risky for Sadaam, but it's a sensable gamble. Worst case we leave him alone and he achieves deployments impossible under fire, particularly the scuds.

I wondered about that also. One inspector killed and the other who was seriously injured in an auto accident????? but no mention of any others. Have any others EVER been killed??

Thank you, Saddam, for saving us the trouble of having to deal with the U.N. and France again. Thank you for givin' us the chance to fight. Thank you for proving President Bush RIGHT!

ban the word "Breaking" from all headlines Or alter the program so the word breaking begins to fade to gray after 5 minutes and disappears altogether automatically after 15 minutes.

Read it right and you realize that the US does for everyone else but no one helps us. We set up an organization and gave them some power and they abused it.
In another tone, did UN folks show up to help us after 9-11??

Ah, but the nice thing about SSBNs is that you don't have to move them close to the target. They can hit it from somewhere in the middle of the Indian Ocean, or the Atlantic.
