I am sorry to see that it has an exemption for the life of the mother..... under the nebulous "life and health of the mother" exemptions in the Colorado law in 1972, I know that life of the mother can be construed all types of ways. If the woman threatens suicide unless the pregnancy is ended (baby is killed) is one...If this is true it could amount to a pretty serious loophole. I wonder if today's bill has the wording "life of the mother" or "life AND HEALTH of the mother." I suspect that the "and health" phrase is a way of sneaking the "mental health" consideration in there. If such is the case, doctors will be able to find ways around this pretty easily.

They would not have the force of law. It would only be valuable in the event that the courts were attempting to determine the intent of congress. Often, the intent of congress is needed to determine areas that are not explicit.
In the event that someone makes a case that this law is too broad, its theoretically possible the supporters of the law can counter that it wasn't intented to be broad as evidenced by the Senates resolution on the same date and debate.

Hillary! voted FOR it?? No, you were looking at a tally of YESTERDAY's Harkin amendment to the PBA bill that endorsed Roe v. Wade.

Do you have the wording of the resolution?
Does it reference the PBA ban?

Remember too that Tiny Tom is up for reelection in 04.

Byrd and Leahy suprise me on the one side and Lieberman suprises me since he is running for prez and all.

Does it reference the PBA ban?I doubt it but one can still show that the senate did pass an official posistion that it had no intentions of banning abortions other than partial birth. All I'm saying is that this apparent "win" for the pro aborts isn't everything its made out to be. It can mean a loss in the courts are more likely.

For much of the time since, abortion rights supporters have had enough support in Congress or the White House to fend off most attempts to restrict the rights the court identified in its 1973 ruling. Don't you mean fabricated?

Yeah, if Senator Harkin proposes ANYTHING, but particularly relating to abortion, you're best to oppose him.

Okay, whatever. It would be just one more evil blow for commie Tommy Harkin and the wimps in the Senate.

New England is responsible for 8 of the 32 "Nays", 100% of the RINO "Nays" come from N.E., and the "Nays" include a former RINO. It's days like this that I feel pretty low being from N.E.You're not the only one with reason to feel down - the senators from Florida (my state) were the only two in the entire South to vote "Nay"! Thanks a lot, guys , and thanks to all the Condo Commies, Townhouse Trotskyites and Fidel Fans in South Florida for putting these two (Bob Graham and Bill Nelson) in office.

Hillary 'It Takes a Villiage' Clinton (D-NY), Nay; John 'Horse of No Color' Edwards and John 'Setting a Fast Pace in Fund-Raising Sweep' Kerry weaseled out by not voting (playing both sides of the fence)
OK...the world is still as I expected.

"Partial Birth Abortion is murder" I take it like America's Founders that you get that idea out of what you consider to be the the inerrant, infallible Word of God. (Otherwise, if it's unreliable, why quote it?)
If it is true that you get your information about what constitutes "murder" from Scripture, no doubt you will also agree with these Scriptures:
Murder begins in the heart. Hatred is the spirit of murder. [1 John 2:11; 3:15]
ALL men are liars. [Romans 3:4; Prov. 116:11]
Liars hide their hatred. [Prov.26:24-26, 28; 10:18]
Soooo ... whether or not the actual act of murder is committed, ALL men are murders at heart. [Gal.5:19-21]
So are any of us better than an abortionist who actually commits the act of murder?
The apostle Paul answers the question:
Rom 3:9 What then? are we better [than they]? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
Rom 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Rom 3:13 ....with their [lying] tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps [is] under their lips:
Rom 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

What we've got on ice is technically not "champagne" because it is Italian.
It's been there for 2 1/2 years, since Election 2000 - we had one bottle for when Bush won, one bottle for when Allen won, one bottle for when Hillary lost, and one more in reserve just in case Bush took California.
That night we only drank Allen's bottle. The way the rest of the night went, we switched to Jim Beam.
When Katharine Harris certified Florida, two more bottles were drunk. That's how the giant "W!" got spraypainted on the rear windows of our cars - alcohol & spraypaint DON'T mix.
Somehow that fourth bottle's just been waiting...
Rose doesn't work for me - I buy Pinot Grigio for white and Rioja for red.
Mirassou used to make a very nice California champagne - I haven't seen it in a few years.
