Nashville Woman Fired for Anti-War Letter

A woman was fired from her job at Jones Media after replying to an e-mail written by country singer Charlie Daniels.

Tamara Saviano worked for Jones Media Networks and Great American Country on Music row for three years. She was fired last Friday for responding to an e-mail written by Charlie Daniels.

In his e-mail, Daniels blasted Hollywood and the media for protesting a possible war with Iraq. His publicist, Kirk Webster sent the e-mail to people in the music and media industry.

When Saviano got the letter at her personal e-mail address, she wrote Webster and Daniels back outlining her anti-war beliefs.

Webster says Saviano put her company name on her e-mail and that’s why he called Jones Media. But Saviano says it was clear her e-mail expressed her personal beliefs.

Webster says Charlie Daniels had nothing to do with Saviano’s firing.

We all know better than that. Right?

Whatever, the fact is that courts have already state that there is no such thing as private email on a company computer. So if you are busted, you are busted.

icu2 - Sure don't mean to nit-pick; but should't the word be spelled 'entitled' in case someone wants to do a search?

So anyone who opposes the war is now a "traitor"?

They are when we have men standing on the line poised to go at a moment's notice. They are when we have aircraft flying sorties every single day, attacking ground-to-ground missile sites in preparation for a land attack. We are already at war and I have heard enough from the pacifist crowd. They had their opportunity to speak, so until the Commander-in-Chief gives the order to stand down, then, in my book, they are committing treason.

Will they ever be tried for treason? Good grief, Jane Fonda never had to answer to any U.S. official for her treason! That doesn't lessen the reality of her crimes. A trip to the gallows would be my prescription.

They're not traitors, but they do severely suck.

Don't agree...as an employer:

She was at work and should not be participating in personal activities. That's grounds for termination right there. If someone sends you an email to your work email address and its not work related, if you choose to answer that email on the clock you get what you deserver.

She had three options: 1) keep her liberal personal thoughts and emails off the company's computers and time; 2) find a liberal employer who would allow her to waste as much time as she wished to excrete her loopy liberal thoughts and smear them all over cyberspace, or 3) go into business for herself and spend her own time and money expressing her personal political thoughts.

It's that simple. She chose option 1) and took the risk her employer might not be amused. She lost her job. Her choice. Done deal.

Total absurdity.

"I wonder, is this a stealth way to try and slam Charlie for his great letter to the hollyweirds? The woman's firing is in no way Charlie's fault. He did the right thing, the patriotic thing. He didn't call someone to have her fired (too clintonesque, and Charlie would never sink to the sinkEmperor's cesspool level). Is someone trying to attach guilt by association, onto Charlie Daniels? If so, I am really gonna get riled!"

I'm not sure that Charlie wrote it to the hollyweirds. 'Tamara Saviano worked for Jones Media Networks and Great American Country on Music row for three years.' I think it is in Nashville.

No doubt if a liberal could put any conservative down - I think they would love to.

Hello ... she signed her COMPANY'S NAME to the letter!

It doesn't matter a hill of beans who's thoughts she put in the letter - she sent it as a REPRESENTATION OF THE COMPANY.

Sorry ... that's a no-no!!

She could have written down his email address ... gone home and sent him a personal email expressing her opinion.

Perhaps you need to find another job where the liberals haven't forced all the conservatives to go underground.

Don't know what her email said, but unless it was really off the wall, I doubt Charlie would really be pleased with this.

I knew Charlie in the early days with the Jaguars at the Fondalite Club (forgot the spelling) in Tulsa. I used to rotate bands through there when he wasn't hogging the stage. I was just a 19 year old out to conquer the rock and roll world. Charlie always had a word of encouragment. A real stand up guy. Unlike Jerry what's-his-name who owned the club.

CHARLIE ROCKS!!!!

Thank you for saying it (# 23.) The country is at war, not at a debating society groovy retreat at a scenic national park, end of discussion!

The majority of "anti-war" folks are obviously, in truth, "anti-American," however,...

However? However? You know, I don't get this kind of swiss cheese logic. If they are anti-American, then they need to keep their mouths shut while our soldiers are fighting, or face the consequences of their treasonous speech. Spout off all you want before American lives are on the line, but once we're committed you need to stand up or shut up. If I see any of these unwashed freaks out on the street with an anti-war/anti-Bush sign, they won't see it coming because I won't give any warning.

My IT dept looks at email the same way. My address at work is NOT my FR addy nor do I want any other non work related emails going there. It takes up server space and pisses off the help desk (bad idea to piss off IT).

Hi Mulder, I believe I'm turning anti-war again.

You sound like someone with deeply held convictions.
