Krusty the Clown Hershel "Krusty the Clown" Krustofski has experienced a number of very high highs and very low lows in his long career as one of Springfield's most beloved performers. He has won awards, the acclaim of legions of young fans and millions of dollars through lucrative Krusty Brand products and endorsements. But these successes have come at a great cost: Krusty has been arrested for armed robbery (he was acquitted when it was proven that he was framed by a disgruntled sidekick), he's filed for Chapter 11 and seen his estate sold at auction, and he's had to experience a painful estrangement from his father, who wanted Krusty to be a rabbi. Perhaps it's no surprise then that on his way to the top (and to the bottom and to the top again) Krusty suffered a heart attack that forced him to wear a pacemaker. Through good times and bad, Krusty has approached life with his wide, engaging smile. Mostly because the smile is painted on.

If you're going to end up voting for a clown, you might as well vote for a real one.

I first saw the Simpsons during the DemonRat national convention and it was obvious that Homer would make a better candidate than Gore. If he and/or his buddy want to run on the Pubbie ticket, more power to them.

You missed the scrolling screen during the debate between Krusty and his opponent. One sound byte read, "Do Democrats Cause Cancer? Find Out on FoxNews.com".

Did anyone happen to read the news-ticker during the FoxNews broadcast on this episode of The Simpsons?
90% of all Democrats are gay...... Do Democrats cause cancer?.... Oil spills found to cure cancer.

Any chance Sideshow Bob would be in charge of Homeland Security?

Also in the crawl at the bottom: JFK posthumously joins Republican party ...
Who could blame him? He would have been embarrassed by what has become of the Democratic [sic] party.

Good point. At least when Krusty promised to defend the Constitution, he told the "gun nuts" not to worry. That's more of a promise than youll get from Ohio's Governor Taft.

Groening & Co. seem to be leftists, yet I find their attempt to portray Republicans as evil intriguing--either the producers are trying to paint Republicans in a bad light OR they're purposely poking fun at the typical liberal caricature of Republicans.

Are you saying Sideshow Bob ISN'T The director of Homeland security !!

I don't think Groening's a leftist. The Simpsons isn't reverential about anything, but it doesn't hesitate to mock political correctness, and it's respectful of religion and family values.
In that show where Homer buys a pistol, it makes fun of the NRC at the start, but later on they turn out to be very sane and sensible people.
Besides, it's funny, and present-day liberals no longer have a sense of humor.
