A school board near Youngstown, Ohio, is debating whether a 6-year-old should be suspended from school for taking a plastic knife from his school cafeteria.

Kevin Long was suspended for doing just that.

And, he could even face expulsion, WLWT Eyewitness News 5 reported Friday.

All I know is the Greatest Generation of Americans defeated the Nazis and the Japanese Warlords and rebuilt the world after the war was won without all this PC bullshit.

And they did it with flags flying and patriotism intact.

There is a strong lesson there.

And, if the school insists on upholding the suspension, his parents reportedly will seek criminal charges against the school for supplying weapons to children.

This is great!

I have six kids, five are in school, one is homeschooled. I fill their heads with truth and knowledge about the way things really are. I am there to support them, and temporarily provide homeschooling to them it it gets too "tough."

However, I have made a carefully thought out decision to keep them in school, because only school will teach them how to resist peer pressure and provide a training ground in discerning truth from error. And, unfortunately, I think that pressure to conform to popular ideas is going to greatly increase. I'm trying to provide my children the wherewithall to overcome the thought police. I want my children to be prepared for these incredible attempts at group think, keeping them hidden at home will not give them the skills to survive at 18.

Send the teachers to jail for this kind of crap.
Earl, your brains (or lack thereof) are showing. It's the district/superintendent/princiapls who made and allow the enforcement of this little rule about plastic knives, not the teachers. It's the administrators who decide the punishment for the violation of the rules. I know, I know-- it's just so easy and popular to blame everything on teachers [some of who deserve it].

I support Clara Lou on this one. The administrators are the ones to can. You kill a snake by cutting off its head. School administrators are the ones to blame for these moronic zero tolerance policies.

You are correct. I did not mean the 'teachers.'

I meant the 'educators' [in general], which in this case means 'the administrators, school board members, etc.'

idiot school administrators
I could not agree with you more. I have worked under 5 superintendents, and I can say that exactly 1 of those 5 appeared to have students' welfare first and foremost in mind. Of course, the fine school board of that town sacked him after only two years. The other 4 had or have only their personal agendas, their personal well-being, and their advancement and/or retirement as their guiding light. It's sickening.
I might add that it very difficult to find people who are truly capable of serving on a school board. Many who are on the school board are only there while they have children in high school and can intimidate teachers into giving grades and bowing to their preferences.

The parents should go forward regardless of the suspension or lack of. It will be a great service of exposing this B.S. and may save more kids from having to deal with this from the totalitarian educraps.

How can a school suspend a student for having a weapon when they themselves issued the said 'weapon'.

This is plain dumb.

They will mold boys into men who cannot defend their women, their families, their nation, themselves. A pox on these über PC school administrators!

I can only pray that this would happen. Not that I want to see lawyers getting more work, but the absolute idiocy of this needs to be aired in the most public way possible. This kid is only 6 years old, for cyring out loud!! He doesn't know know what zero tolerance is nor should he even have to care at that age. I am so glad that we homeshcool!

Remember the case of the little boy (about 6) who was naked and was in his window in full view of the other kids on the school bus?

The idiot school administrators tried to make him sign a paper admitting to sexual harrassment.

These people are flaming you-know-what's. They should be made a laughingstock of and run out of town.

Zero Intelligence + Zero Common Sense = Zero Tolerance

You must remember the #1 job of any School administrator is to not get sued. And the #2 job is if you get sued make sure your "proccesses and policies are such that the payout is lessened.

That's why right behind liberals running the education system, trial lawyers are a terrible threat to America's values and prosperity.

You know, that might change over the next few years, especially if we go to war.

The public might not want to put up with wimpy,anti-gun, "don't defend yourself in a fight" school administrators. School administrators might find out that their post-Columbine thinking will be very much out of style.

I hadn't heard about that case. I would have turned the tables and charged all the other kids with being Peeping Toms. (Hey, if their going to be ridiculous, why don't we all play along?)

In my son's school, they do indeed wash the plastic utensils and reuse them.

I suspect pencil sharpeners will then need to go - because a pointy pencil is also a very nice weapon. And then we take away (insert any other potential object used for poking someone here)....

Don't laugh, I knew someone years ago that used a pencil in a school fight. It is an effective weapon. Then again, when I was training in Martial Arts ten years ago, I learned that anything can be used as a weapon. Glass frames, newspapers, keys, ect..
