Actually took part of Winter decorations down outside!

Today weather in the DFW area of Texas was a special gift. Exactly what we needed.

Glad you have good weather, but IIRC when I
was living there, we always had a false
spring. It's coming again!!

I think Powell was lookin' to get a quick nine too...as in votes:)
I wasn't able to listen to all of the members responses today and these summaries are in diplo-speak. Does anyone have a feel for how votes may go?

We're all waiting with bated breath for powerhouses Guinea and Cameroon to decide. /sarcasm. Seriously, I just watched Greta and the vote situation doesn't look promising. I think we only had about six 'yeas' so
far - anyone correct me if I missed something.

Jack Straw was outstanding today, and
infuriated the French and Germans.
The Germans left in a huff!
I do not know if we will get the 9 we need,
but I think Russia will abstain, dragging
the French and Germans with them, No
Veto!

Being a complete geek I am watching the CSpan replay right now:)
Straw was fantastic as was the woman from Spain (she was equally good the last meeting and I should do better to remember her name). Powell was disappointing, but I am wondering if he was deliberately low key since we seem to antagonize half the world when we speak what seems to me to be only common sense. Of course it's the UN, so UNcommon sense dictates.

Colin sounds so worn out and like a broken record now every time I hear/see him. I guess he's got to take the public pounding now and it's starting to show. I'm not dissing him - I just see what I see. We've got to stop stalling and get on with it; any more "'this is absolutely, finally, without a doubt, undisputably, we ain't kiddin', 'i'm totally serious' - your last chance" stuff is going nowhere.

Just thinking of you the other day and wondering about your twist on the Estrada cloture vote. Got anything posted?

Hello, friend,
I just sent a proposal to UPI for a regular article (not a Billybob column) on the some 32 times in the Constitution as amended where something other than majority vote is required. Those instances make it clear as a bell that otherwise, a simple majority is meant.
The Advise and Consent Clause requires only a majority to confirm a judicial nominee, whereas it requires a two-thirds vote to ratify a treaty. So, what Daschke-Kennedy-Clinton are trying to do is rewrite the Constitution by force.
I think that Frist will gradually turn up the heat, and that four more Senators from states with high hispanic populations will eventually cave (plus Graham of Florida, who was conveniently too ill to return to D.C. for this cloture vote). So, it will be a long fight, but Estrada will be confirmed.
Congressman Billybob
Latest column, now up on UPI, and FR, "Truth, the First Casualty?"
Latest book(let), "to Restore Trust in America."

So, it will be a long fight, but Estrada will be confirmed. Agree with the analysis completely. Hope to be able to read your article in every newspaper coast to coast. Knew you'd be on top of the Constitution issues.
Have been trying to do my share to convince Bayh. Lately his office has been extremely slow answering the phone. If they answer at all. No responce to e-mails or fax.
Pick 'em off one Senator at a time.
