I would hope that Straw and Powell dragged de Villepin out into the hall and gave him a good old-fashioned "b**** slapping". How could he ignore this report?
Regards, Ivan

The reason the French foreign minister can ignore this report is that France sees itself as a counterweight to Iraq and a long time friend of Iraq. They have a whole lot of history there including a period of occupation, I think I am admittedly uncertain about it. DeVillempan is just doing what his government feels will agrandise France. At this point IMHO the UN is being shown to be as absolutely irrelevant as was the League of Nations.
That is not necessarily a bad thing as we all need to look at reality.

That's easy. It's because he doesn't have to worry about getting attacked by Saddam. We do. Saddam isn't going to gas his best friends and allies now, is he?

How could he ignore this report?De Villepin would ignore it even if it had a WMD recipe in Saddam's own handwriting on the back and was stapled to his forehead.* The French are complicit up to their eyeballs and don't want us to go into Iraq because they're afraid we'll find their thumbprint and "made in France" all over the place.

That can't possibly be correct. PepiLepin would have said something.

I did not get to see the farse at the UN today. I understand Blix pulled the old switcheroo. He spoke about an older resolution, not the current one.

the best thing to do now is to go in Iraq, with or without the UN...
find all the nasties, all teh WMDs...
ship them straight to Paris/Berlin, put them in the middle of busiest streets of Paris?berlin...and let the peaceniks to clean up the mess...
of course we could play nice for not charging postage for this special delivery.

They haven't addressed the fact that after Desert Storm they cataloged several tons of chemical weapons, and were going on to the biological stuff.
They'd destroyed some of it, but Iraq was still in possession of quite a bit. (The AP and the rest of the news idiots were so kindly helpful to dig up data on what Iraq had before Desert Storm. So they do know he has Chem and Bio weapons, despite what Janeane Garafolo and her ilk say.)
And these remaining weapons were sitting in warehouse awaiting destruction.
They have yet to be accounted for on this inspection run around cycle.
How convenient of the "World" to forget all of that.

They will no doubt ignore the report.
The opposition to the war are morally challenged: the bastards sold them "Das Vergiftengas" and "Le Uraniume."

Ok, I'm getting old. So let's see if I have this correct. The weapons, which Iraq does not have according to France, Germany, Belgium, Russia, China, Cameroon, Guinea, Chile, Canada and Mehico, could kill hundreds of thousands of ours and the Queen's elite; even though they don't have them? Hmmm, peraps we should strap Peter Jennings to the front of an M1A1 and if he survives the first 48 hours, we can have the French surrender for us and end the war. I think that's fair, don't you?

How could he ignore this report? De Villepin simply doesn't want us to see the "Made in France" stamped on the side of the chemical weapons shells.

What the hell is this cr*p?!? UN inspectors keeping info from the world's populations?? What are they afraid of, a well informed public????? This is nothing but a large stinking pile of fresh 'teddy kennedy'.

I saw the Frenchie de Villepin explain after the Security Council meeting that this wasn't so much about Iraq but about who would rule the world. Would it be the US or the UN. IOW, France knows full well that Iraq is not in compliance, that it has WMD, and thinks that the US is more a threat to France's vision of the world than is Iraq.
To: MadIvan
Wow Ivan you blitzed Blix! That bastage! Now we get it even more that Jack stressed the 'other' report, the classified then declassified report! Thanx for posting this, now what do we do?!
