He's forcing the vote in the UN. Pass or fail we're going in. Plans are in place, troops ready.... "The go ahead to Baghdad is coming within a week" is what I heard.

I have no doubt whatsoever that President Bush's reasoning and the course that he has likely chosen are both correct, but his demeanor and the cadence of his speech seemed to me to indicate the enormous weight that he must be feeling.

That said, I thank the Good Lord every night that he is in the Oval Office and ask that He continue to guide President Bush and bless and protect our service men and women..

Yep! I started whistling the theme from 'High Noon' towards the end of the conference......

In Texese, what Dubya really told the U.N. was, "All right boys, lay your dix up on the bar - it's measurement time!"

He said he would give the media "time to get out"- any media member who isn't beating feet to the border tonight,is a fool. The Democrats will start their full throated anti American attack tomorrow-Dashy has asked Frist for floor time tomorrow to do his Tikrit Tom act.

Lets hope after 8 years of Clinton Rummy was able to find enough Schwartzkopf types to prosecute this thing the way it should be

Too damn many PC and politician types are in the general officer ranks . Me thinks he should have put a marine in overall command

Saddam and his regime are in a high-stakes game of "chicken" and our President will not blink.

I think Saddam knows this. Clearly. Without a doubt.

It's taken the world 26 months to learn that America now has a real leader in charge, and it will take another month to insert the exclamation point .

Great Britain, Spain, and the United States have introduced a new resolution stating that Iraq has failed to meet the requirements of Resolution 1441. Saddam Hussein is not disarming. This is a fact. It cannot be denied.

I believe this resolution was the finishing touch to the process of seeking the UN's help.

Yes, I agree with you, he did seem to say get out now while the getting is good. I also saw a news segment this morning that stated the media has already been told to leave the area. Peter Arnette is staying of course, but he said others were packing up and getting out.

we were watching the same show.....it was like Gary Cooper in "High Noon", he didn't choose the time and place, but he'll deal with the problem rather than run

A great American President

He showed how small dasshole and the beast really are

Constitution/Conservatism; Culture/Society; Foreign Affairs; Free Republic; Germany; Government; News/Current Events; Politics/Elections; Russia; War on Terror

I must admit, you posted this under nearly every topic but the correct one.

Could I be seeing something that isn't there or was I just reading between the lines during President Bush's news conference?

One thing that struck me was really odd was how, when someone asked about France and Germany and Russia, Bush responded with an unmistakable *smirk* and said something to the effect of, "just wait and see how they vote". Given how much trouble they've been up until now, Bush seemed *way* too cheerful, confident, and optimistic -- *unless* there's already some sort of "done deal" behind the scenes and he just can't wait to see the public's surprise when it happens.
