I thought the president slapped more than one reporter upside the head tonight. Too bad they're too stupid to realize it. I thought so, too. And, I don't believe he called on Heinous Thomas tonight, did he?

I want the Bush doctrine viz North Korea (containment) tried with Iraq. I want a SINGLE STANDARD, not a double standard. I hate to disappoint you but we don't apply one single standard for everyone. North Korea isn't threatening the supply of oil. We don't have a one-size-fits-all foreign policy.

You're absolutely right! Over and over he must repeat the mantra to offset the daily bombardment of the Democrats, media, and weasels. He's preaching to the choir here on FR.

Sorry for making you rehash what you've already posted.
My understanding is that after the 1st of April, conditions will be very difficult for the military, given that the internal temperatures of the protective suits is about 50 degrees higher than the external temperature. I'm not convinced that the timing is irrelevant. There are costs to waiting, how high, obviously I can't say.
No one can credibly argue that Bush is indifferent to the allies. He's bending over backwards to find a consensus. To me the UN, and Britain's insistence on diplomacy is a sideshow. If we waited for the UN or Europe to get on board anytime something needed to be done, there would be millions of refugees from Kosovo camping out in Macedonia today.
Given this, I find your second argument most compelling. There must be a greater risk to going in today than what we currently understand. This realization is highly unsettling.
In what timeframe do you anticipate us going in?
To: Howlin
"Then how do you explain your posts?" My posts explain themselves.
Try a little harder next time.

NORTH KOREA HAS NUKES.
Apparently you weren't listening tonight. Bush said we want to PREVENT N Korea from getting nuke weapons. We haven't said they already have them. And if you think civilians - including Israelis - won't be endangered by a war in Iraq, you're smoking something from the Middle East.

Yes, but by points 1 and 2 themselves, we must assume that they will continue their opposition -- for otherwise they break faith with their voters when it counts most.
Personally, I also think that they are genuine leftists and pacifists, but that's just my own opinion.

Once Saddam's regime is gone, the Iranian people will be mounting the heads of the current rulers, the Murdering Mullahs on pikes.
Israel will get poed at Syria and take out the trash there and in the Lebannon the puppet of Syria.
Then we can handle NK if the ChiComs and the Japanese haven't handled them.

No no no - - I want the Bush doctrine viz North Korea (containment) tried with Iraq. I want a SINGLE STANDARD, not a double standard. Do you really think the President is ignoring the problem with North Korea???

I haven't heard an explanation as to why we have to invade Iraq, when we DON'T have to invade N Korea Maybe it's because NK already has nukes, and we can't invade without about a million South Koreans dying? Maybe because Iraq doesn't have them yet, so we can take Saddam out without turning an allied nation into a slaughterhouse?
Actually learn something about the NK situation, and then let us all know your plan for dealing with what is probably the most deadly of all Clinton's leavings. I know you wouldn't want to be like Chuck Hagel and the Senate Demos and about three thousand hack liberal journalists, and just carp at the President without anything constructive to offer.

I just posted the link to Newsday.com transcript.
I watched the conference, I don't think this transcript is complete.
To: gopno1
the Democrat "talking points" are focused on North Korea? Yep...and if there was no "North Korea," their talking points would be the economy.

The formal press conference isn't Bush's strong suit. I would have preferred it if he'd been in a more informal setting with a smaller number of reporters. It's kind of clear that he's never liked these press conferences and just isn't at his best in them. Too bad really. I think he's a better president than the press conference made him appear to be.
Even though W. wasn't quite at his best, I very much liked the very simple and direct way he kept returning to his points about the danger to the American public and his determination to protect them, that Saddam can never be trusted to disarm. And W. was to honest to maintain a perfect facade that he wasn't committed to was. He made several remarks that made it clear he was going to attack and it's too late for Saddam to disarm now. That was very good for keeping our "inevitability" on a roll.
To: Franking
Forget it. He's just arguing to entertain himself.

Didn't you like the part where he reminded Terry Moran that he had asked him the exact same question back in October -- and that Moran was wrong then, too? That was a great moment!
To: Wild Irish Rogue
he is going to call for a vote,so everyone in the Security Council is forced to put their cards on the table As many have said, Bush plays poker.... the Russians play chess. Poker face wins most times.

There should have been a disclaimer running
when Gary Hart was spewing his rhetoric!
To: PhiKapMom
I'll bet Gary Hart has done some serious drugs in his time. I don't base that on any specific knowledge that I have - he just looks like someone who has a hard time distinguishing reality from LSD flashbacks.
