I thought Bush did well tonight in laying out the threat and that Saddam has made his choice.

Most important, he said we don't need UN permission for anything, and he told the Security Council they were going to be forced to Vote.

Other than that, just another row of bricks on a very solid foundation...

My only negative: I wish he would quit saying he still hopes for peaceful solution when Bush already stated repeatedly that Saddam is a brutal murderous dictator who plays us like a fiddle who has shown he will not disarm.

Those two thoughts, peaceful solution and Saddam seem discordant to me. The only peaceful solution is Saddam gets a bullet in the head or goes into exile.

Thanks! I just may use that email adress. Terry Moran is the White House press person that I detest the most.

The President has no power to "Declare War"

Correct, last Fall The congress passed a bill Authorizing the President to take action against IRAQ if they don't disarm.

Now it's up to the President to determine if it is necessary to use force to protect the USA.

The mooks that have been killing Americans for the past 20 years look like Saddam Hussein

They look like the president of Egypt, too, you racist. Should we also invade Egypt?

>>Declarations of war come from Congress<<

They certainly do. Here's one:

"the President is hereby authorized and directed to employ the entire naval and military forces of the United States and the resources of the Government to carry on war against the Imperial Government of Japan; and, to bring the conflict to a successful termination, all of the resources of the country are hereby pledged by the Congress of the United States."

All the resources of the country are hereby pledged by the Congress of the United States.

The Commander-in-Chief cannot do this. Only the Congress can.

Bush wants to hear one thing from Blix tomorrow, a yes or no answer.

DID IRAQ DISARM?

No opinion, just fact, yes or no. If not, that's it.

Declarations of war come from Congress. If I am wrong, please me a man and tell me WHY I am wrong.

You need to read the resolution Congress issued regarding War in Iraq. They ceded their power to use force to the President based on HIS sole discretion. He has their blessing already.

No Helen Thomas! Glory be!

Although Helen Thomas is a nit in the great scheme of things, her exclusion was a seminal moment in Prez-Press relations. Bush made clear he's through kissing the liberal press's ugly arse, in the form of Thomas, no matter what the tradition.

A bad tradition should not be continued just because it's been a tradition.

Need to spray some "FReeCon"...sprinkling some FReeCon pellets around the doorways might help too.

See my post #1322.

The other bombshell I learned yesterday is that France and Germany are actually 100% behind the U.S. on this one. Try that one on for size.
