This Bush supporter is about to turn. For months we have heard all the valid reasons for ridding thEE world of Sadam Hussein, over and over and over again. Tonight, the word is that Bush will answer press questions on Iraq and, yet again, assure us all that no decision on war has been made. Great! The markets can continue to collapse, anti-war demonstrations go on, Bush's re-elect poll numbers plummet and Wart Hog Helen gets to ridicule Bush some more.
Well I've had it with Bush. The guy really isn't very smart afterall. And that guy Powell of his has actually done the impossible by making Madeleine Albright look competent in comparison. Bush discarded good advice from experts and get's snookered by Powell into going thru the UN, then watches as the French snooker Powell. And the US now has the humiliating task of begging the likes of Angola and Cameroon for approval to defend the country from horrendous attacks. In the meantime, Powell says we can't talk to North Korea as if just talking was synonymous with re-negotiating an agreement. As a result, Korea may start a war and the US foreign policy is the laughing stock of the world.
Enough is enough! Bush should fire Colin Powell, shutup and stay holed up in the white house until he is actually ready to act as tough as he talks. Come out only to announce the invasion of Iraq or its successful disarming by the UN, whichever comes first.
Please..what is "DEPMA"?
Which part? Powell? He's good cop to Rummy's bad cop. They've been playing that since 9/11.
Going to the UN? It's win-win... either the UN demonstrates it's irrelevance (a win) or, as we're ramping up to go into Baghdad, we're painting Saddam into a corner, so that when it's over no one will be able to credibly claim we didn't make a sincere diplomatic effort to resolve Iraq's 12 years of intransigence (a win). Makes for a more winnable peace.
North Korea? Clinton squandered out ability to fight two major simultaneous convntional wars on a so-called "peace dividend" he didn't earn. Bush ID'd the DPRK as part of the Axis of Evil back in January 2002. It wasn't entirely unanticipated that Kim would get wacky as we were about to go in to Iraq. It's a crappy situation, so we try to keep it at a simmer for now.
Let's see how Kim behaves after Baghdad is in ruins.
Not to be too glib, but did I miss anything?
Yes.
Are you sure? I don't remember threats of a veto from our allies before Gulf War I; or the Bush I administration unsure if it could get a resolution through the Security Council. Someone is in a corner, I'm just not sure it's Saddam. But, I can be convinced.
I missed those. Would you mind posting them?
Recheck what I said about win-win... UN irrelevancy isn't necessarily a loss.
"Sad that you can't discuss a thing with the bots!"
Don't mind TLB, he received a "gift".
***wink***
I didn't mention NK, but since you did I see them as a problem regardless of the sabre rattling Kim Jong is doing.
Even if he does behave, he might sell weapons to folks who won't. I think something is going to have to be done there at some point in the near future.
He sells arms, you can't reason with him and his word is not to be trusted. I don't see any alternative.

Now, care to discuss this reasonably or does your initial 'shut the hell up' still make your whole case?
