BUSH SHOULD PUT UP OR SHUTUP ON IRAQ!
Posted on 03/06/2003 2:00:13 PM PST by BJR
This Bush supporter is about to turn. For months we have heard all the valid reasons for ridding thEE world of Sadam Hussein, over and over and over again. Tonight, the word is that Bush will answer press questions on Iraq and, yet again, assure us all that no decision on war has been made. Great! The markets can continue to collapse, anti-war demonstrations go on, Bush's re-elect poll numbers plummet and Wart Hog Helen gets to ridicule Bush some more.
Well I've had it with Bush. The guy really isn't very smart afterall. And that guy Powell of his has actually done the impossible by making Madeleine Albright look competent in comparison. Bush discarded good advice from experts and get's snookered by Powell into going thru the UN, then watches as the French snooker Powell. And the US now has the humiliating task of begging the likes of Angola and Cameroon for approval to defend the country from horrendous attacks. In the meantime, Powell says we can't talk to North Korea as if just talking was synonymous with re-negotiating an agreement. As a result, Korea may start a war and the US foreign policy is the laughing stock of the world.
Enough is enough! Bush should fire Colin Powell, shutup and stay holed up in the white house until he is actually ready to act as tough as he talks. Come out only to announce the invasion of Iraq or its successful disarming by the UN, whichever comes first.

BJR ought to go sit next to "The Tomatoe without Mercy" - a fine pair of bookends they'd make.

Actually, the PROMISE was made by James Baker to the Iraqis. And the PROMISE is well known. Don't need Clinton's say so for this:
James Baker: "If you use weapons of mass destruction against our forces, the American people will demand vengeance, and we have the means to exact it. That is not a threat, Minister, it is a promise."

I'm sorry you feel that way. There are a lot of great conservatives that I would vote for, but no conservative is running yet. I truly hope none feel they have to in order for the republicans to win in '04.
Please search thru this thread and on this site for threads the last two days. There really are references to polls showing Bush getting beat by an unnamed dem challenger! This is really scary news; whether you want to believe so or not is up to you.

Come on, don't be dumb. Think. Hmmm... Did Bush go to the UN *before* smashing the Taliban in Afghanistan? No. He did not. That's a big clue to Iraq and other foreign policy issues. You are right in substance but not in specifics there - Bush did go to UN post 9/11, before militarily taking on the Taliban and AlQaeda. Of course we'd already started in on the massive FBI + CIA efforts and shutting down their money supply. But Bush did go to UN then and really gave it to them - both in paying them off via UNESCO funding and his speech which was in-their-face & ultimatuum style to all the terrorists & scumbag nations which made up that audience.

Trust me on this...there is at LEAST one poll showing Bush BEHIND 48 to 44. Check the anti-war Mathews show out tonight where, of course, Bush diving in the polls is the main topic.

That is the notoriously liberal Quiddeunc poll, and to allow something like that to get you stampeded is just plain foolish.
President Bush's poll numbers are around 60%, according to the last Fox News report.
In addition, Reagan and Clinton both had far lower numbers than that and won handily both times.
So, what you really want is to start a war because of the POLLS? How shallow is that?
You are thankfully not out in the desert waiting for orders. You would be a drag on your unit.

"The guy really isn't very smart after all".Hmmm, I found out in High School what other people thought of me was none of my business. I still think that way,it's made me a better business person/human, believe me. That being said, we went the U.N. route to buy time IMO,to move 250K soldiers into place, build that HUGE base in Qatar(Seen those satellite pictures online? Freepmail me if you haven't and I'll drop that URL on you ) and for no other reason than believing "Coalitions Make Good Policy". Removing the Madass from Kuwait was a fine example of this. Don't be shaken. I'm a little less mad than you are, because I've stopped watching much of the B.S. Commentary that airs after my workday. I used to flip between every channel to get it all, but I found I was getting too angry, and after all, I'm powerless over all this S___. I've had place my trust in George W. Bush,Don R., his right hand Paul Wolfowitz and Pentagon Military Planners to root out the Terrorism, which in all honesty, and quite unfortunately is the New Permanent War as long as people on earth remain alive.I mean really, for as far into the future as I can imagine, how are we ( and our Childrens Kids' Kids' ) supposed to tell a good Muslim from a Murderous/Treacherous Suicidal one? (Nobody's answered that because they can't.)

For the life of me, I don't know why so many freepers have to get so personal. Are you really so immature that you can't tolerate any criticism of the president? FYI there is more than one poll showing Bush losing for the first time. It's a serious trend IMHO. This is a RE-ELECT pct, not an approval number. You can take it or leave it.
The poll numbers are a side issue, what got my burners going was listed in the topic for this thread.

Do believe that DEPMA is going to catch on with Freepers!
At least the Estrada thread today gave us a new acronym -- useful too! LOL!!!

Someone please tell GWB he has to cut out the emotions on TV. I can only imagine how difficult his job is,but Anger must and can block that for brief periods when he appears on TV.That's just my opinion. It's also just about time to start wearing a "Power Red Tie" too.(Unless he's waiting until we're through with Iraq, of course.)

Well, let's see here, you come on the board and post a vanity attacking the president's strategy right when we are ramping up to war, gripe about the PR, think Powell should be fired, and tell us you are ready to back someone else in the 2004 elections.
Listen, many of the people who post here have friends and relatives in the Gulf. Your post is deleterious to morale and is not appreciated since you have NO constructive suggestions, simply whining that you want the war to start NOW or you will take your marbles and go home.
Six weeks from now, when this is over with, I bet you won't have the grace to come on here and say you were wrong, either. And by God yes, I do take it personally, because you are annoying and wasting my time.
To: duk
Uh, duk, it's a press conference. There will be nothing BUT Q & A. Sorry!
