He's the real winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Overall a nice article on the man, but I found something stressed in the beginning that disturbed me.
What in the world is the Secretary of Defense doing needing to sign a req for saddles and tack? Shouldn't this all be going on at a lower level? I'd like to know more about this before making a judgement, but is there a problem with micromanagement here?

I take it as anecdotal to make a point about how low tech and high tech have to be used in concert. I seriously doubt that he personally signed the requisition or wrote the check. I wouldn't be surprised though, if he had to pressure some of the perfumed princes under him to support the idea .

Good catch. I have heard anecdotal stories(from Rumsfeld/admin. supporters no less) that Rumsfeld is a micromanager and that trait goes way back to his days as a businessman. Not criticizing his strategic steering of the Pentagon, but they have concerns regarding his micromanaging style.

These effete European snots are total morons if they really imagine that Rumsfeld is a vacuous cowboy. It's a measure of the emptiness of their own heads that they think this way.
No doubt if Julius Caesar or Cesare Borgia came back from the dead, these decadent nitwits would call them stupid cowboys too.
Here's news for the chablis crowd: It's possible to be firm, resolute, and even ruthless when circumstances call for it AND STILL BE SMART.

LOL, I like it.
There is something distinctively cowboyish about the use of that word lonesome. But if there is a cowboy that Donald Rumsfeld really resembles it is the Gary Cooper of High Noon, the sheriff who won't allow the fears of others to prevent him doing what he knows to be right for their protection.
To: Victoria Delsoul
He's a stud ;-) The Axis of Awesome meets tomorrow in Bush's office over soup and sandwiches, with Rummy and Cheney offering either egg or chicken salad ;-)
To: habs4ever
He's not a stud. Take a look.
To: Victoria Delsoul
He seems to think so! You go tell Big Don he's not a babe magnet ;-) LOL
To: habs4ever
No. I like him.... a lot ;-)
To: TADSLOS
Not to worry.
The sheriff in "High Noon" had a good woman back him up...
Dubya appears to have a solid lady ready to steady him...
