Another thought on strategery: given the Iraq situation, I imagine a lot of Americans who otherwise would not tune in to a press conference will be watching tonight while GW explains how the Dems had an opportunity last week to ask Estrada any questions they want...and NO ONE asked a single question...

LOL!
That article referenced his Presidential bid and his strong Hispanic base. He also stated pressures from both sides of the debate.
What a chicken! Can't handle a little vote, but wants people to think he can handle the Presidency. He's a joke.

Reid: Leahy sets an example of being a fine Senator. Dems waiting for someone to show up for the Republican side. Schumer up heralding Leahy, Daschle, Reid and unity in dem caucus.

Well...maybeeeeee he is going to take the position that because of his health, he hasn't had an opportunity to review everything and is not in a position to vote either way...(just a thought)but wouldn't surprise me in the least because that way he is not on official record either way.

I think you have pretty much come up with the strategy they will be using. Senator Frist said that this nomination will not be pulled so now the RATs have to decide what they are going to do.
Personally none of the RATs look comfortable this morning.
Would expect the President to slam tonight in his press conference if they keep filibustering.

"Ooo, my arm. Its broken. I can't vote." "Well, that could be a fracture of the ulna. I guess you'll have to forfeit."

The Democrats have to know via their internal polling what this filibuster is doing to them politically with Hispanic voters. People are paying attention and the longer this drags on, the more damage Democrats will suffer, especially if the filibuster continues during a war with Iraq and the resultant liberation of Iraq.

Schumer Up Now
Remarkable unity in Democrat caucus (kind of like Mafia)
Vote today boils down to one issue: should the Senate have any role in selection of judges, that simple.
Attempt made to obliterate advise and consent
Not about one man, not about one issue, not about whether ideology should be taken into accoutn (as Schu,er believes)
Last several months made a mockery of advice and consent

Did you notice the look on Schumer's face? Does that look like one of someone on the winning side?

I wish NY voters had scrutinized Chuck and Hillary as they want to do to Estrada. Sickening...
Why do I have to have 2 ideologue senators....: (
