They had been discussing these nominations for more than a week so I am not sure where she is coming from.

If Estrada isn't Hispanic enough, then Halle Barry isn't black enough - hence, she is NOT the first black woman to win a Best Actress Award.

She is merely just another winner - nothing special.

We should be able to deal with these issues in committee. We used to be decent, and could discuss these types of nominees, now it is very formal--

Seems to me the Estrada filibuster started before Hatch's actions in the Judiciary Committee last week.

He may be conservative but he needs to go take a class in Government 101 before writing his articles. The problem that I see is that a lot of media write stories without doing research! Going to the Congressional Record would have told him there was no cloture vote.

Basically, they say that they don't think he will protect Latino rights...In other words, to liberals, judges are supposed to "fight" for certain groups, not simply represent all EQUAL LIKE UNDER THE 14th AMMENDMENT!

This is the kind of thinking the Menendez needs to get under his head. He's not quoted in the link, but I'm sure he agrees with it!

It is possible that Miguel Estrada does not come from 'umble beginnings. If he had rich parents, that would trump his ability to converse in Spanish.

Let me see if I have this straight. All this RAT bunk beefing about Hatch moving those two nominees through the committee last week, is based on rules that were established after Trent Lott caved in the last session, and only apply to the last congressional session? Not the current one?
