Feinstein is saying one day short.....re: questions and debate. Your post confirms her reading. Hatch scheduled the meeting for 6 days later instead of 7 days.

"Being Hispanic for us means much more than having a surname," said New Jersey Rep. Bob Menendez, a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. "It means having some relationship with the reality of what it is to live in this country as a Hispanic American."
This is the Democrat case against Estrada...

The Fox story was i interview spin all you want we are not stupid and that is why Fox won't retrack it. I called them an hour ago and that is why. its a true story unlike the spin. Fox will never retrack it.

See my #556. She is talking about the rules of the last session of the Senate not the new Rules.

I was joking. I understand how it works but she had asked me a question and I saw others had been kind enough to provide the answers. So to add levity to my tardy reply to her I added my comment, tongue in cheek.

Tough. They tried to fillibuster in committee, so Hatch had to push them through.

Not only was it Fox, but I think it was Major Garrett, and I'm sure he spends more time in the hallways where Daschle and the other Dems hang their hats, than in the Repub office areas. He gives a Mara Liasson, Juan Williams spin to all his news reports. I'm not sure he realizes that as a reporter he still "leans" heavily toward the left. He probably thinks he is reporting straight up.

"Being Hispanic for us means much more than having a surname," said Martin Sheen, a member of the Hollyweird Hispanic Caucus. "It means having some relationship with the reality of what it is to live in this country as a Hispanic American."

She also said that you need a minority vote to clear a nomination -- that is not true! It was last time but not this session.

Feinstein:
We should be able to deal with these issues in committee.
We used to be decent, and could discuss these types of nominees, now it is very formal--
Sessions back, bring up Thurmond's candidate that got jerked around.

Doesn't matter - the three nominees passed through with bi-partisan support.

I don't remember the entire story, but it characterized the Republicans as being defeated based on a reading of mood and a scheduled cloture vote. It was an inaccurate read of both mood and process, don't you think?
