I hate when this happens. You've enjoyed a number of roles an actor has performed, only to find out... Well here goes
The infobabe on Fox News just reported that Harrison Ford wanted to set the record straight regarding his support for Bush's efforts on the impending war with Iraq. Through his publicist Ford stated that he support regime change. He wants it in both nations, Iraq and the United States.
Harrison's stock just went to zero in my book.
Over an out...

Thanks, and you're right. It isn't earthshaking, but it is very therapeutic. : )

Couldn't he think of anything more pedestrian and trite?

It does seem he should have been able to make a more dignified statement. On the otherhand perhaps he couldn't. : )

Ironic to think that out of all the Hollywood actors, it was Brad Pitt who had the best answer: 'Who cares what I think about Iraq! I'm an actor!'That kind of humility is rare in Hollywood. At least one gets it.

Nobody cares what they think about anything. But they keep butting in to tell us anyway. Sadly, these fools don't realize that they are solicited by the political parties to voice a party line position simply because of their status as an idol to their followers.

I think old Indiana Jones has finally gone senile.

'Who cares what I think about Iraq! I'm an actor!'Actually Rob Lowe (!) just made a better statement to the effect that it doesn't matter what his personal views are, we need to stand behind our troops & their Commander & Chief.

Someone with enough real estate should hold a bonfire and have all the freepers send in their Video cassettes, dvd's, cds, etc, of all these (you fill it in)'s. I think that would send a pretty clear message.

Just one more 60 year-old who can't face that he is. How unusual.

Harrison's stock just went to zero in my book. It got close to that for me when I saw him shaking hands and joking with Bubba a few years ago.

I like some of his movies. But anytime I have heard him interviewed, he is one of the most excruciatingly BORING people in the world. Indeed, it is no small wonder his success comes from pretending to be someone else.

What a shame... His publicist should have recommended he said this: "It is not my position to mix politics and my career."
Welcome to the free market. Globalization means that Harrison derives much of his gross from Europe and Asia. I might be displeased by his BS, but I am in no way shocked. A few upset conservatives in the US are far less important ($s) then alienation from key foreign markets. Take the statement for what it is and move on.

He's dating Ally McBeal. I think that qualifies him for lock up in a mental ward. It certainly should, Ally McBeal is a ficticious character!

On the flip side, Michael Waltrip, after placing third in Sunday's NASCAR race, in his post-race interview asked that all Americans support our President!

Harrison Ford has been anti-Bush since the beginning. This is nothing new. He has voiced his hatred of Bush many times.

Changing regimes in America has to be tantamount to NOT changing regimes in Iraq. Without Dubya to drive the effort, nobody would be willing to even suggest Saddam Hussein should step down, or risk being removed. There are only about two chances of an indigeous revolt coming about in Iraq, somewhere between zip and absolutely none. If the US Fleet and a large contingent of the US Army and US Air Force were not just a few minutes away by air, there would be no inspectors in Iraq right now.

Since some on this thread have mentioned actors (the few) that do support President Bush, I will add that Rob Lowe who acts on the West Wing was on Fox and Friends this morning. (Yes,I know in his youth he engaged in some unsavory behavior with that video, but he's long since settled down, married and had children.)
He was emphatically behind President Bush. Referred to the "fantastic" men and women who have been deployed, and referred to the president as the Commander in Chief.
Then he relayed a story about the guy arrested over the weekend. He said he flew American Airlines out to NY yesterday and the flight attendant told him that in July (I think it was July), 2001, that very man had flown AA when she was on board. She told Lowe that the man had a fake Eyptian badge and asked all of the flight attendants to go into the cockpit for a "tour" (Lowe made the quote marks with his fingers). All the attendants told him "no", and she told Lowe that she had told him "what part of 'no' don't you understand". She said the guy said "but I'm a pilot". I think he said she told him she called the FBI, but can't be postive. Brian Kilmeade noted that it was a similar story to James Woods' story. Lowe was familiar with that and agreed.
