The price for peace under a democratic republic is law and order and a constant striving to better ones own ability to secure a better future, i.e. self determination.

Have you seen the History Channel documentary "Beyond Desert Storm" the story of Iraq's head nuclear scientist that defected? I caught most of it tonight and hope to tape the second airing at 11pm CT tonight (in about 2 hrs 15 minutes) -- it is *appalling* what has been happening in Iraq. It's no wonder that whole area is in such unrest. Watch it, you'll be convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt that the Pope is wrong on this one. (not that you doubt!)

Well it seems to me that the Pope is just like the movie stars and other liberals. He is against George Bush and in favor of anything George might oppose. Where was the Pope when Clinton was doing the same thing to Serbia that is now proposed for Iraq? Where was the Pope condemning any of the many atrocities in Africa? What does the Pope think about North Korea? If the most supreme pontifical pontificator had ever spoken out meaningfully and promptly on anything of consequence before, and if the organization over which he presides had ever done diddly-squat, what he says and does as Pope could be given some regard. Right now he looks like exactly like you would expect to get if you selected your leadership from the Alzheimer's ward of a polish nursing home or gave Michael Jackson a chance to dress up in really fancy dresses and run his mouth now and then when it occurred to him.

When Charles died in 1685, James II became king and ruled until 1688. As a Catholic, his first action was to insist that the Test Act be revoked. Parliament refused and James, like Charles I before him, dissolved Parliament when he couldn't get his way. He then displayed his opposition to the Test Act by appointing openly Catholic civil and military officials and in 1687, he declared all religious tests to be null and void. Only an idiot would assume I was making a comparrison between God and Hitler, for God is the Holy Father, not the pope. The pope is but a man as you or I.
