The PAC funding is a seperate entity from VFW dues. Members dues cannot be spent for political purposes. If you do not like the candidates VFW supports-simply don't donate to their PAC. But yes, the PAC has fallen on more than one occasion. I too chastised them for $upporting Senator Welfare. There have been other mistakes over the years. This being one of the more egregious ones.

I simnply solved the total problem, i no longer belong to the VFW and since they would pro rate my membership, I now come them the scum I think they are.

Since they would pro rate it so I could give it to a more worthy organization (AER).

I now see the kind of people that run it as they have picked up fleas from lying with their PAC.

They like the Red Cross have put money above service.

Regret your problems with VFW. What is AER? Got several different "hits" off google.

VFW has many good programs. Too many folks see only the VFW Posts with signs that say "BINGO-Monday Nights" and think that is all we do. Actually we fund the only home for orphans (of US Service men)in America. We provide Operation Uplink-distributing pre-paid calling cards to military stationed all over the world. Support various blood-drives. Community activities. Packaging gifts for servicemen at Christmas time,etc.etc.

who is conducting an independant investigation of this issue, and I do not think that "Sensitivity" is a big part of his agenda in addressing this National embarassment for our State.

It would be wise of the MEA to police it's own in order to salvage what might remain of their credibility and relavence in Maine as well as America - but I presently do not see much of that happening.

If the NEA and MEA choose to hold their current ideological course, they well may be joining the Soviet Union and the UN in that great, proverbial "Ash pit of historical irrelevance" before long.

Hoo-rah, Comrade! (I spell my similar term for "Commies" with a "K" so as to distinguish it from the official American Legion salutation, with a "C", which dates from the 1919 Congressional Commission of the American Legion).

At a recent "Support Our Troops" Rally in Portland, there were Legion caps and Post Flags in abundance - including our District Commander!

When this first broke a week ago Friday, I dropped an E-Dime to National HQ; hopefully it was not the only one, and I'm proud to see our Legion piling on board on behalf of our Heroes in uniform.

On CBS News Radio, they report all the whining from the sacred halls of Augusta and School Administration as to how this story has been "Blown all out of proportion"; in case you don't know (and I rather think that you do) this is LibSpeak for: "They won't let us stuff this under the rug and make it go away!; It's not FAAAAAAAaaaaaaair!!!! WAAAAAaaaaaah!!!"

I received an email from MaryJo O'Connor, Superintendent of Portland public schools, today imforming me that she was PROUD to report that the incidents didn't happen in Portland schools, but that rather CNN reported the story FROM Portland. I emailed her back that if that were true an apology was due her. I also mentioned that I couldn't apologize for CNN, but that FOX News would take care of THEM.
Now, some school districts, if not Portland, DID as was reported. Which ones were they? (email addresses and names, titles, etc., please) and they will get the same email and hopefully all of Y'alls', too. Regards!
