An active imagination can be fun, but can also lead one off down one of those scenic alternative routes you mention, sans road map!
This time it took wings, and was flapping around up there with the black helicoptors for a while. Thanks for setting me straight.
A "Support Our Troops" Rally was held in Brunswick, ME this afternoon - and will be every Sat. at 4PM through the Winter at least.
I'd say about 80% of the passing cars on Maine St. tooted, waved, thumb-up, and some even cranked down the windows and waved American flags - even a Police Cruiser gave us an enthusiastic toot!; it was great!
We heard about a Teacher in the local High School who assigned a homework project to his class consisting of a list of four of the World's major Religions. They were to select one of these Religions, and on the basis of that Faith's values and beliefs, write a paper explaining how the US Invasion of Iraq is immoral and wrong.
That situation is going to be dealt with locally, it seems.
Wouldn't it be interesting if half of that class, instead of turning in that assignment, handed Komrade "Teacher" a copy of the Sedition Act?
I don't remember where I heard it, but it seems that a bunch of Komrade teachers are planning to have some sort of "Teachers For Peace" demonstration up around Bangor.
Get this; a bunch of their own Students are planning a Pro-America Support Our Troops Counter-Demonstration against them!
It might be worth the trip up there to see that!
Hopefully some FReeper up that way might share details.
Towards the end of our Brunswick Rally, along comes a big yellow School Bus loaded with what appeared to be a High-School Band. And much to our surprise, IT sounded a volley of toots - and the kids were cheering us and waving out the windows as they went by!
"Glory Hallaluia!!" I roared; "De Walls Ob Jericho be comin' DOWN!!!"
I seems like we just might be getting to them, folks! Sure made my day!
YEEEEEEEEEEE - HAaah!!!

This teacher should be jobless. Self-defense is defensible for Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Hindus (assuming I identified the Big 4 properly). The only debating points are:
- whether someone has WMDs
- whether it is moral to strike "first" at someone who indeed has WMDs, has used them in the past on opponents, and made his intention to use them on others abundantly clear. The answer is "yes," simply because we're talking about the potential for losing millions of innocent lives if we don't.
Even if the issue wer debatable (which because of the facts it isn't), the assignment of a paper designed to force students to come to a particular false conclusion is despicable and out of line.
So many enemies, so little time, huh?
...great to hear; hope for Maine and hope for America :^)
Glad to hear that! Those 'teachers' are despicable! Thanks for pinging me to this thread.
LJ - are you near Brunswick?
