Let me correct myself -- I believe it was 66 votes in 1917, later was changed to 60.

o time. Doing too many charities outside of work (plus a very long work week) and I have a 4 & 5 year old (boys). I will probably run for politics at some point but I have to get past the raising years right now. Love FR, pay monthly, but I can't do political activism right now. My time will come...
Thanks for all of the activism.

I forgot -- you missed the best part -- Leahy was ranting about Estrada being rich and he didn't need a job as a Judge while other people were looking for work.
Guess you could say that Hispanics that are a succes and make money need not apply for Government positions if you take Leahy seriously!

Sen. Hatch did put the dims on notice that their lies will be called out. He alluded to "other methods" the good guys are preparing to exercise. The gantlet was thrown weeks ago and tonight, the Republicans smacked a bunch of cheeks red.

What happens now (absence of a quorum)? Did they all run away and hide?

Should you post the list on every 50, you ask? I don't care, but it is very inconvenient for those with dial-up connections. I don't think it's a good idea!
Instead, why don't you post an "advertisment", text of course, which refers to the information and gives the numeric id of the last post which contains it.

I watched him when he was defending John Ashcroft and called his office to tell them what a great job he had done on the floor of the Senate.

first he was talking about historical precendents regarding the handling of judge nominations in the Senate. Then he talked about how liberals lawyers advised the dims to change the entire process of approving judges as evidenced by those hearings held by Leahy last year concerning a shift of the burden to the judge nominee to prove hhimself worthy of judgeship.

Senators who were just elected or re-elected aren't going to care. (Harkin, Durbin) We should call or e-mail the ones up for election in 2004.

Good night MM

I got a question. Estrada served in DOJ from 1992 - 1997. He leaves DOJ in 1997 to go into private practice.
Do we know why he left DOJ? Is that common knowledge? If it is I haven't seen the description of what happened.
Did he get crosswise with El Reno or Eric Holder? Did he find out where some of the bodies were buried? Did he refuse to carry out some assignment that was against his code of ethics?
Does this have something to do with what we are seeing here? Is there some tie-in with this to the "documents"?
Excuse this post if what I am asking is already common knowledge.

This is the motion to require the Sgt of Arms to get absent Senators to attend Where was Tommy? Under his desk sucking his thumb?

Paul Masson Grande Amber VSOP ($12). Blended and bottled in Bardstown, KY, but a close look at the label says that it's blended with French brandy (doesn't say which). I didn't know that.
