If they don't carry this out tonight..they won't get a chance to push this tomorrow. Tomorrow's afternoon forecast is for the kind of snow that closes this town down. Congress won't be back until Monday.
Sigh..very disappointing.
To: clintonh8r
Maybe he's letting the Republicans sleep before going into the final round.
This will give the news cycle a chance to percolate some more.

Republicans cave tonight--maybe they can find a backbone tomorrow.

Listen to the lieing Schumer!!!!!! If people knew about Estarda they would be agast!!!!! If the people knew the truth about Schumer, he would be impeached (and that's putting it mildly).

Can I just say WTF? Not exactly hardball. Sheesh.

Senator Frist is letting them off tonight. The next time they do this the RATs will not know if they have to go around the clock or not. This has only just begun. They are now calling this a filibuster.
We have to get on those phones tomorrow and start calling people on the fence to end this farce right now!

We're may be watching one for the history booksWe're watching the emergence of Senator Frist as a leader among leaders IMHO....

I think he was just getting it on record that an UP or Down vote wasn't possible because the Democrats objected. I think he was only wanting to get it on record....

What an amazing man! Why is this not a 24/7 filibuster?
Frist just threw in the towel and recessed until noon tomorrow, even though Senators will be continue to make statements.
This "gentleman's filibuster" is ridiculous. As long as Frist accommodates the Democrats, he'll get no vote.
To: Julliardsux
yeah, I agree.
I think about 3 hours of closing statements, somebody should make a unanimous consent request to have a vote at noon tomorrow. =)

This makes me sick! Can't we Repubs. do anything right? I was hoping Frist was giving the Dems. a chance to go home and then call them back. But then I decided he wouldn't be man of his word. Ugh. I'm so mad I could spit. So much for sleeping well tonight.
To: RobFromGa
Remember, the Dem's "threaten" the filibuster and it has worked in the past. I think what Frist has done tonight is to remind them that if they "threaten" a filibuster that the party in charge can make them go through with the threat or fold rather quickly.
That's what we used to call a warning shot to the leg. We'll see how many Democrats will decide tomorrow that a vote for cloture might be in their best interest.

"start calling people on the fence" A thread with names, phone numbers and email addresses would be appreciated and useful, my FRiend...MUD

No, I think he took a shot across the bow. Seems like a warning to me. It is, after all, a very old, established institution that operates more on back door handshakes than overt opinions. I think Frist served notice...but I could be wrong ;-]
To: VRWC_minion
There is a reason for this -- he called all the RATs out and they came -- instead of allowing them to keep talking the Republicans have the floor -- they now start at noon tomorrow -- tomorrow night they could have to stay all night.
If I wasn't so tired I would remember what this is called! It is where you never know what is going to happen!

I'm disappointed the issue should be forced until it concludes one way or the other.
