A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 2/25/03

President Bush began his day by speaking to the leaders of Greece and Bulgaria regarding the situation in Iraq and the war on terror. From there, the President had a meeting with the National Economic Council to talk about the latest trends in the economy and to receive a status report on the economic plan that he has proposed to the Congress to help the economy to grow faster. Later in the day, Bush met with a group of Republican House and Senate leaders to discuss the upcoming congressional agenda. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

I was watching the Goonies with some of my friends who have never seen it. Can you believe that some people have been deprived of such a classic movie?

Yes, because I are one of them deprivees, till last December. And I still haven't actually seen it, as I was cooking dinner for friends who watched it while I was in the kitchen much of the time (Salisbury steak simmered in awesome sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans).

Thank you, I will do that..

It's odd, I have worked with Alzhiemers patients for nearly 23 years, but when it comes to him, all that training seems to fly out the window, it is so different when it happens to one of your own..

I remember one patient put it so eloquently, he said.."I feel like I am in a movie and I don't have the script."

Thanks so very much for your kindness, Mike..I am grateful

Ms.B

I am surrounded my liberals everywhere I turn, enough to drive a person insane. . I am trying to convert people, I may have swayed a couple of misinformed liberals

You're having better luck than I! I could tear my hair out most days.

Also, in speaking about our W, he said he didn't know what to expect of Bush when he was first elected, but he has really grown to like and respect him. He is protecting us, and he really got a lousy deal handed to him, especially 9/11 and after.

I wish I could remember who said this, it was just today, but much earlier so I've already forgotten (!)--but the person said that no president since Abe Lincoln has had to deal with so much so quickly as W.

It's such a classic. Sit down one night and watch it all the way through. Totally worth it!

The steak and mashed potatos sound so nice. I am so tired of college food. Thank goodness I'm going home this weekend.

The one enormous difference between what Lincoln inherited and what Bush inherited is that Lincoln had the advantage of seeing the seeds being sown, the poisonous plant growing, and the harvest about ready. W got clobbered without the gradual build up. So in a sense, Lincoln was dealt a hand that he might well have expected; talk of secession was rampant by election time. On that point, I think W has had a harder task. But in the end, there are a lot of things that cannot be compared ... . Each man was certainly appointed by God for his hour -- for our country's sake.

I'm so glad W is behind the wheel.

No you're not alone Ms.B {{{HUGS}}} ... My mother has alzheimer's also ..

With all my mother has been through in life raising 7 kids by herself after my dad passed away, it breaks my heart to see her mind so lost. She isn't that bad yet, but I know it will only get worse. For now we just take one day at a time

My heart goes out to you. Two years ago I started my six month saga down in San Diego to get my Mom and Dad moved into a retirement apartment where they would have their meals made for them and watched over.

It was hard, not just because I was ill and not up to packing up their house and making all the other arrangements (which is why it took a half a year), but because of the emotional stress of not having your parents able to appreciate that you are doing this out of love.

I remember just taking off crying and going to a movie one evening.

A lot of Dosers prayed for my Dad when he was really ill that summer and he made it and we got him and Mom to Texas. MJY1288 among others were special friends.

Don't hesitate to ask FReepers for prayers or help or advice, as many of them can really come through for you, if only to hold your hand, which can mean a lot.

Hey, I'm up as well!

I was just reading the last of the thread and was struck by how many kind and caring people post to this thread. Although there are bittersweet replies on this thread, the compassion individuals show for each other really is inspiring, and an inspiring way to start the day.
