Now that you've posted this, I wonder how many freepers will be eating Frito Pie tonight?

Got inspired, bought ingredients, and will be fixing it soon.
I hope to have enough left over to take to work tomorrow!

Enjoy! Frito Pie - no onions, please, just chili, fritos and LOTS of grated cheese! (NOT velveeta!) And as someone else said, it's not Frito Pie if it's homemade chili, either! Gotta be canned chili!

You had to bring this up when I am on a diet?! Being from Snyder, Texas, I remember how good "Frito Pie" was at those cold, Friday night football games.
BTW, tried selling them at a country fair in Pennsylvania, and they went over quite well. (They just taste better with Wolfe.....and under those Texas skies.)

"1) Take bag of Fritos. Slice lengthwise. 2) Pour in a cup of hot chili. 3) Add cheese. Velveeta is fine. And onions and jalapeños, if you like. 4) Eat it before it congeals."

This sounds like a perfect recipe for "The White Trash Cookbook"!

Hmmmm.....never heard it called Frito pie or of Wolf Brand Chili, but we eat the same and call them Chili Billies.

The chili brand is a personal choice. But definitely the best thing is to have it in the little Frito bag; especially if you are roughing it somewhere.

Of course I eat this! This is a staple at every concession stand for football, baseball or softball...... plus many carnivals too! My son still eats chili this way when I make homemade......'cause they haven't discovered Wolf Brand Chili up here in Pennsylvania........

You need to try it one day...... just put fritos in a bowl, pour on chili, cheese and onions (if you like them)......

I learned that "fritos" are an exellant fire starter. We were caught in a ice storm one night while hunting. One of my buddies decided we were gonna spike camp till morning so we went to work building a fire. I looked up and my friend stuffed a small luch box size bag into the pile of wet tinder and wood then lit the bag with a bic lighter. They burn like gasolene. ........amazing !

Ahhhhh grease and meat w/ onions and cheese !!

Stay Safe Bro !!

I remember the commercials, but I never have cared for Wolf Brand.

I see. You're one of those Alabama yankees! You are recoverable if you eat your chili with no beans!

Scrapple: Well you start with a hogs head (no, nothing from the opposite end of the critter as was snidely reported.) You boil it for hours until all the meat falls off. Take out the skull, grind all the meat and throw it back in the pot. This is mixed with enough corn meal to thicken, a bunch of spices and seasonings, and poured into loaf pans until hardened. To serve, cut in 1/2" slices, dip in flour and fry. Delicious! My old Penna Dutch aunt was really proud of herself when she discovered Jimmy Dean sausage. She skipped the whole first part with the hogs head, and substituted the Jimmy D. instead. Tasted just as good. Now living about as far from Penna. as can be, it's the food I miss the most.

Actually Wolf Brand is pretty good as far as canned chili goes........ I prefer homemade too...but everyone who moves away from Texas gets upset when they realize they can't find Wolf....lol........... but I'm a also searching every grocery store for Ranch Style Beans and Green Chili Enchilada Sauce....... occasionally family and/or friends take pity on me and send me some......lol

However, I've overlooked the most important part of this post...... You make homemade chili?????????????
