Dems' daze over war
keeps getting worse

'Liar" is a word that is rarely used in Washington. Not because the town lacks any liars, but because the word is so unambiguous that its use was long ago forbidden by, of course, consensus. So it was particularly shocking, not to mention refreshing, to hear Richard Perle on Sunday call Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) a liar to his face. I paused to see whether the Washington Monument would crack. It did not. Moreover, Kucinich himself seemed only momentarily fazed by Perle's sharp right to his integrity and went on, indomitable demagogue that he seems to be, to maintain that the coming war with Iraq will be fought to control that nation's oil.

What's happened to Richard Cohen? He used to be among the most reliable left-wing apologists for Clinton, and here he is slamming the left-wing Democratic oppositon to war in Iraq. Maybe he does call them as he sees them, rather than follow any party's line. If so, good for him.

The appeasers never did want to listen. They have their fingers in their ears, and they are sticking their tongues out between each lie.

Judy Woodruff was told twice during an interview with (IIRC) Hawaii's new Republican Governor Lingle yesterday that she had her facts wrong. One was her quoting a statement by the "Republican" governor who is supposedly the current head of the governor's association. Lingle corrected her and said that a Democrat was the current chief but would be relinguishing the post to the Republican soon. I can't remember the other error.
Judy apologized at the end of the interview for not having her facts straight, something that should become her tag signoff line,
"And that's the way it wasn't...".

I hope not everyone thinks that emotional arguments that have not one iota of logic or fact, do not work. They do work and they work very well. All that is required is a population that knows little and has no wish to change.
Those arguments are working just fine right here in this country (on both sides, incidently). These types of arguments have been used for centuries upon centuries, by people who hold power or wish to. Those same people have also wished to keep their populations ignorant.
If you can find a country that has done more to destroy, or at least derail the education process than this country, please let me know.

What's happened to Richard Cohen? Perhaps he's realized that the same kind of ignorance and hatred that the Liberals foster to keep their power is the very same that lead millions of innocents to gas chambers and ovens only a short time ago.

What's happened to Richard Cohen? He's trying to save the Democratic Party before they get involved in another "train wreck."
I've noticed a few Dem journalists see what's happening and are trying to influence the Dems to come back toward center rather than veer to the left, as it appears they are doing.
I think the NYTimes and their editorial page has been trying to do the same thing in regards to the Dems and their anti-war stance. They see the mistakes the Democratic Party is making and are trying to steer them away from disaster.
Luckily the Dems aren't listening!!!!

I find this article quite interesting because I spoke with a local appeaser around the area I live who had the same misinformational argument to not go to war, and I called him a liar. He went ballistic!
These people like Kucinich, Bernie Saunders, Jim McDermott (sp)and all the other anit-capitolist, anti-war mongers are woolgathering if they think we're going to war for oil. They have just got no case, and this LIE is the best they can do.

What's happened to Richard Cohen?
Perhaps he is beginning to realize that he has been hoodwinked. It's so easy to do these days.

Kucinch was just carrying on in the fine tradition of Carl Levin who lied through his teeth on FOX a couple of weeks ago on Hume's Sunday show.

The truth must be spoken or the whole world will fall into lies. I love the truth and it's about time Americans said it. Liars can't stand the truth, they do not know that "the truth will set them free."

They have just got no case, and this LIE is the best they can do.We are acting in self defense out of our fear of further terror attacks. The left can't see this bicause the left sees America, in its current capitalist mode, as the enemy. Defense of America is anathema to everything they hope to accomplish.
As an aside, three thousand dead civilians justifies that if we felt that seizing control of oil in the Middle East would help us deal with terror, then why shouldn't we? I for one believe that dire consequences to the whole region are necessary to defeat terror. We don't have to seize ownership or any of the proceeds of the oil to deal a blow to OPEC and the Saudi princes, in my view the enablers of the terrorists.
