This assertion happens to be wrong. The Nazi party was founded as a lefist party but Hitler captured it. For a decade he was opposed by the leftist populist wing of the party lead by the Strasser brothers and Goebbels. Eventually, he won over Goebbels, killed one Strasser in the Night of the Long Knives and drove the other into exile. The only thing socialist about the Nazi Party was the name. It was a classic fascist party.

This is based on comments from a Hitler memoir of Hermann Rauschning, the National Socialist Senate president of Danzig from 1933 to 1934. He was later ousted and became a radical anti-nazi.

It is often cited in historical biographies of Hitler, adn is pretty much common knowledge in the historical field.

You may want to be ready for the "revisionist historians" when you cite it. Although it has been used for decades in historical research and Hitler biographies, lately it has come under fire as a "forgery" by the left. One (1) source claims it is a fraud. Thousands of others have used it for historical research. I'll let you be the judge.

In my opinion, the man who wrote is was an early Nazi party pioneer, who had close ties to Hitler, and would have had the knowledge he claims he had. So I use it.

I read the work in Grad School, and no one there had much doubt about its validity.

He captured by being an outstanding orator. They were going nowhere until he came on the scene. With him, they could recruit. Most importantly for their success, they used the socialist rhetoric of the Left to recruit the SA, their street fighters, without whom they could never have come to power. At the very least, one can say that without the socialist appeal and its street army, the SA, Hitler would never have risen to chancellor. At that point, he didn't need the SA any more and cut a better deal with the army (who didn't want a rival paramilitary force) and business (who never likes anything about socialism).

Until Hitler became chancellor, the Nazis were socialist. Hitler was just unprincipled about it and wanted a totalitarianism to unite German peoples and provide an expanded German empire in the East. Hence, the emphasis on race and culture under the Nazis.

The German Workers' Party , the forerunner of the Nazi Party, espoused a right-wing ideology, like many similar groups of demobilized soldiers. Adolf Hitler joined this small political party in 1919 and rose to leadership through his emotional and captivating speeches. He encouraged national pride, militarism, and a commitment to the Volk and a racially "pure" Germany. Hitler condemned the Jews, exploiting antisemitic feelings that had prevailed in Europe for centuries. He changed the name of the party to the National Socialist German Workers' Party, called for short, the Nazi Party (or NSDAP). By the end of 1920, the Nazi Party had about 3,000 members. A year later Hitler became its official leader, or Führer.

While in prison, Hitler wrote volume one of Mein Kampf (My Struggle) , which was published in 1925. This work detailed Hitler's radical ideas of German nationalism, antisemitism, and anti-Bolshevism. Linked with Social Darwinism, the human struggle that said that might makes right, Hitler's book became the ideological base for the Nazi Party's racist beliefs and murderous practices. Background: This is a widely distributed Nazi pamphlet from before 1933. The title, loosely translated, is "Those Damned Nazis." At least several hundred thousand copies were printed. Why Are We Socialists?

We are socialists because we see in socialism, that is the union of all citizens, the only chance to maintain our racial inheritance and to regain our political freedom and renew our German state.

The sin of liberal thinking was to overlook socialism's nation-building strengths, thereby allowing its energies to go in anti-national directions. You equate the killing of an adult with the killing of a fetus? You equate the evoked terror, termination of a character, a personality, a creature with awareness of its mortality and the suffering and end it is to endure with the killing of a tabula rasa, unaware of its own suffering or even existence? You value a creature who's innocence is a result lack of will, lack of ability to know, choose, or act, over an an adult who is somehow considered less valuable because its fallible experience and understanding has led it, invariably, to make some bad decisions and thus drop into the less valuable, defiled category of the sub-innocent?

You set up a value system whereby any human fetus is of greater value than than all adults because of relative innocence. Such a system would lead to situations where a mother would be sacrificed for the benefit of the more innocent fetus. It would mean the tragedy and terror of a vast worldwide deadly plague--worse than any the world has known--is less than the tragedy of the widespread spontaneous abortions that women who wish to get pregnant have always experienced--often without even knowing. It would mandate enormous resources to stopping the "scourge" of the spontaneous abortion.

Elective abortion is appalling. Perhaps it should be illegal. But it is sick to compare it to the Nazi holocaust.

Which still makes it a form of socialism. Under fascism the government only controls, but does not own, the means of production. It should also be noted that the ideology of National Socialism was virulently anti-Christian. Hitler adhered to Neitzsche's analysis of Christianity and added his anti-semitic twist (Christianity was a Jewish conspiracy to make the German people 'weak').

Hitler used some "useful idiots" in liberal churches to promote his political goals but once Christian voices were raised against the treatment of the elderly and the mentally retarded these critics were sent to concentration camps.

For Hitler the State, as en expression of the 'volk', was to become the object of worship.

the Jewish people. It was argued that the Jews were a sort of 'sub strata' of the human species and that these 'non-humans' could be done away with wholesale and without any moral consequence.

Now: To achieve abortion on demand, a deliberate campaign was set into motion to de-humanize the preborn child. The argument was made that the preborn child was anything but human. It was a 'zygote', 'blob of tissue', 'fetus', 'product of conception' etc. etc. It was argued that these 'non-humans' could be done away with if one so chose, and without any moral consequence. This little one was aborted after 14 weeks gestation.

Then: The NAZI SS chose who would live and who would die. Little children, the infirm, the old, the weak were inevitably sent to the gas.
Within hours, their remains were burned in ovens or thrown into mass graves.

As far as MY ability to suffer and be aware of my own existence as a fetus, I'll stick to my own memories. Funny I have no recollection of any existence at the time, not even of the responses of my fetal nervous system to _Cat in the Hat_ or anything else. I have yet to find anyone who has.

Since you didn't deny my accusations, I will assume that you believe a pregnant woman should be put to death if it would enhance the survivability of a (more innocent) fetus.

I will also assume that you would impose a new large tax burden to combat the worldwide plague of spontaneous abortions that may account for many hundreds of millions of innocent deaths each year. Far far more deaths than due to elective abortions.
