The strong anti-Bush and anti-American sentiment world wide is no doubt a surprise to most of us.
The sheer numbers of people involved in a coordinated world wide effort seems to indicate that this is neither random nor spontaneous. In fact, this may be the results of years of effort on behalf of the organizers and politically as well as militarily may have the same emotional impact as 9-11 or Pearl Harbor. We were not prepared for the intensity or ferocity of the assault.
In the late 1980s we celebrated the fall of Soviet style communism and immediately we started looking for a peace dividend. We downsized our military and our intelligence community. We went to sleep. In the mean time, millions of unemployed communists were now looking for work. Some found a home in the Environmental movement in particular the Green party of Europe. In review of the Green party politics, we discover that they are anti-industrialization, anti-development, anti-capitalist and now, anti-American (familiar agenda?)
Other unemployed communists went looking for dictators to sponsor them. With them, they brought significant knowledge of disruptive tactics such as disinformation and propaganda techniques, dirty tricks and methods of mob manipulation.
This all came to fruition just after 9-11. At first America was shocked and (nearly) united in it's grief and search for revenge. Then the operatives started planting their disinformation. Israel was really the bad guy. Remember the massacre at Hebron that wasn't. This was our first taste. A false statement was planted (the massacre) and Israel spent the next several months including UN probes disproving the accusation. Most of the Islamic world still believes the allegations of the massacre to this day even though unsubstantiated. They accuse America, through their support of Israel of being accomplices and therefore warranting the attacks. Incredibly, people in our own country agreed.
The accusations of the massacre fractured American unity with the Democrats sponsoring sympathetic rhetoric towards the Palistinians. The Palistinians became the worlds newest aggrieved group of people. Arafat became emboldened and directed more attacks against Israel They continue to this day without condemnation.
The Catholic Church was torn open in the US with allegations of priest pedephilia. Two major pillars of the Judeo Christian faith base in this country were attacked by this process.
Next came the verbal assaults on President Bush. First domestically with Hollywood personalities publicly criticizing him as appointed not elected. They became more vocal and more active in the criticism particularly in international venues. The world press captured these "ashamed to be an American" statements and took them as a reflection of American opinion in general. Next, major political leaders in foreign countries had referred to our president as "an idiot" and "a cowboy", dispespectful statements well outside the scope of diplomatic decorum. In general this rallied the populations in Europe to take on the same tones. This disrespect has now been taken to the streets with international protesters specifically targeting president Bush as the axis of all world evil.
How did this happen? The Democratic party operatives wanted to do everything in their power to discredit the president. The appointed Pelosi and Daschle as their attack dogs. They have obstructed every initiative that the president has made and are likely doing it internationally. This has spun way out of their control and instead of helping reign in the internationally damaging spin, the Democrats are running away from it. After all, they have the most to gain.
Before you condemn them though, remember it was us, freepers who talk the good talk to each other on our computers and on barstools, who never once held our representatives accountable. It was us, the freepers who can only get 20 or 30 counter-protesters together to face a mob of thousands. It was us, the freepers who are wringing our hands in despair instead of taking it to the Democrats and making them bleed for damaging our country so much. If we still do nothing, we will even lose the country.
Get off your butts and take this country back!
Yeah...get off your butts...and vote for conservatives!
Actually, there aren't that many people involved. The national media just doesn't report on anything else.
Stop watching the alphabet media. Do the math!
They may be noisey in the streets but we are not even squeaking. Do you have a sign on your car, on the lawn or at work? Have you written a letter to the editor in support of the president?

On the conservative side, most of us have jobs and families that make it very difficult to suddenly take off and drive to Washington every time a march comes up.
It would be interesting to do a little survey at the next ANSWER protest, "Do you have a job?"
If one freeper or a group of freepers makes the news showing a solid stand against this lunatic fringe, then we have been better served than just turning of the "alphabet media"
Just did today, a good spanking to one of the Philly rags, and they almost always run my letters. It was more a mocking of their double standard - they were very supportive of the Kosovo intervention but are against this war.
You mean the poll of adults, as opposed to likely voters? One of those push polls designed to influence opinion as opposed to measure it?

A surprise only to a complete moron who doesn't know
spite and envy are the strongest and most common of human emotions.
Right now do you have a sign on your lawn, do you have a sign on your car? Just for giggles stop at an overpass and wave the flag for 5 minutes on the way home from work. Start a trend.
Hard to find any. And hard to define.
