Jack Stephens and Camachee think that it's okay for Sami Al-Arian to support terrorism, and be a member of a terrorist organisation. That's fine with them.
Just don't arrest him or fire him, since, according to them, that's infringing on "Academic Freedom".
They still have yet to answer as to what terrorist activity is protected under academic freedom.

Abdullah Al-Arian,their eldest son, a Duke University undergrad and intern to Rep. David Bonior, D-Mich., was asked to leave the White House without explanation IMPORTANT: Sean Hannity, on his show today, had a guest who discussed Grover Norquist.....according to her (don't remember her name), Pres. Bush called Al-Arian's son, and APOLOGIZED for this incident......Norquist knew/knows these people's backgrounds and the FBI did not want Al-Arian at the White House, but because of Norquist, Al-Arian has been at the White House. She also said Norquist mostly associates himself only with the Wahhabis (and extremist faction) and other extremist factions. She said no muslim gets to the President but through him, that he is the President's muslim adviser (I believe that is how she put it). I checked Sean's website, he doesn't have any of this info up that I could see, yet; perhaps later or perhaps tomorrow it will be up. I did find this article, however, on Newsmax:
Conservatives Fight Over Islam
Wes Vernon, NewsMax.com
Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003
The CSP boss took Norquist to task for his involvement with Islamic Institute, through which, Gaffney argued, Norquist and his associates had been instrumental in promoting and facilitating Wahabbis access to the executive and legislative branches of government and thereby could prove politically damaging and strategically detrimental to our cause and the well-being of our country.
Norquist says Islamic Institute was formed to promote within the Muslim world the fact that the Koran and Islam are perfectly consistent with a free and open society.
In an interview with NewsMax.com, Norquist said he wrote his letter because the two young White House Muslims whom Gaffney criticized were merely underlings carrying out decisions made by more senior White House officials.

Here's another article found on
The New Republic online
GROVER NORQUIST'S STRANGE ALLIANCE WITH RADICAL ISLAM
by Franklin Foer
Post date 11.01.01 On the afternoon of September 26, George W. Bush gathered 15 prominent Muslim- and Arab-Americans at the White House. With cameras rolling, the president proclaimed that "the teachings of Islam are teachings of peace and good." It was a critically important moment, a statement to the world that America's Muslim leaders unambiguously reject the terror committed in Islam's name.
Unfortunately, many of the leaders present hadn't unambiguously rejected it. To the president's left sat Dr. Yahya Basha, president of the American Muslim Council, an organization whose leaders have repeatedly called Hamas "freedom fighters." Also in attendance was Salam Al-Marayati, executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, who on the afternoon of September 11 told a Los Angeles public radio audience that "we should put the State of Israel on the suspect list." And sitting right next to President Bush was Muzammil Siddiqi, president of the Islamic Society of North America, who last fall told a Washington crowd chanting pro-Hezbollah slogans, "America has to learn if you remain on the side of injustice, the wrath of God will come." Days later, after a conservative activist confronted Karl Rove with dossiers about some of Bush's new friends, Rove replied, according to the activist, "I wish I had known before the event took place."

And this is in the article I just posted from The New Republic, btw:
When University of South Florida professor Sami Al-Arian e-mailed The Wall Street Journal in response to an op-ed that tied him to Islamic Jihad, he CC'd Norquist.

Thanks. I'll never cease to be amazed at the lack of respect some so-called conservatives have for our constitution. Better to spew vitriole and demagoguery than face facts, I guess.

Excuse me, "intelligently"?
Sami Al-arian is a KNOWN terrorist.
How can you say that defending him, and saying that arresting him is infringing academic freedom, is intelligent?
Did you even bother reading what they said?
Do you even know who Sami Al-Arian is?
He's a supporter of HAMAS.
Or didn't you know that?

Debbie Schlussel was on the Sean Hannity show Yes, that's her; thanks. She said she has a website....but I can't remember the name of it. I think she said that what she was saying today is all there. Sean said Norquist will be on his show tomorrow; they tried to call him whil Schlussel was on the air, but no one answered the phone. I gather she and Norquist have a personal dislike of each other, too.

You are not a university professor
(I am assuming)
with tenure,
which is a contract that explicitly forbids firing you
simply for your opinions.
I am a university professor with tenure
as I assume you are
in which case you know
that academic freedom is a load of crap.
Your argument is
that we must support bums like al-Arian
in order to protect our own skins.
In which case
I agree
I have a wife
and a child to educate
I am taking a risk
even to post here.
But don't imply
there is anything noble about it.
What you are advocating is called
the Policy of Appeasement.

"They stand for freedom, you do not."
Coteblanche, you are FAR, FAR offbase with that one.
You see, I served in the military upholding and defending the constitution.
What did you do?
When people like Sami Al-Arian were working to undermine our constitution and laws, what were you doing?
I stand for freedom, defending terrorists and giving them a free pass 'cote blanche' to our country isn't standing for freedom.
You are in a bad ways, and need to brush up on who you're defending.
Camachee said exactly what I quoted, I didn't misrepresent anything he said.
Frank Stephens said exactly what he did, I didn't misrepresent anything.
If you are too blind to see that, maybe you should wear a burka and go to Iraq along with the rest of the terror supporters.
I served my country, what did you do.
If you want to give terrorists a pass, fine by me.
When they start killing again, be sure to walk up to them and tell them you support them all the way.
