If this thread had started in prime time, it would be a new FR classic, right up there with moose and showers.

Has Foucault's Pendulum has been screwing with the Internet, again...?

If you want odd, I had the exact problem....2 nights ago.

Narrowing down the possibilities...

1. Browser set to text only. This can be done deliberately, or in the vast sea of computer users, it could be the result of a disk error, software bug, memory chip glitch, virus, defective installation program, etc.
2. ISP glitch. Images are mostly in the form of .jpgs ane .gifs. They are not "in" the page; they are requested by the browser as the page loads. Perhaps an ISP temporarily blocks images to cope with a performance problem, or perhaps they have one of the problems in point one.

"No, sit-rep. I haven't any pics anywhere at all..
"

It's not the web, it's your PC. Shut down, reboot, and check again.

How does this apply to two different computers in two different countries, happening at the exact same time?

No one has answered that yet..

Maybe you both were trying to access pages on the same internet backbone, which was recently taken 'down' when nesting armadillos chewed through some network cables???

Didn't figure you would.. Anyone that hangs around with 'dillos in their pants shouldn't be trusted for the straight truth....

tsk, tsk..

I haven't read every single post on this thread, but I can assure you that "every single picture" did not disappear from the web at the same time. That is simply impossible.

A lot of advertizing images are hosted by a few servers. If these failed, a lot of sites would appear not to have images. The same might be true of some countries or some news services.

I don't doubt that images could be blocked on some parts of the internet. If it involved a large part of the net, we'll be hearing about it form other sources.
