Western Maryland Reports 49 Inches of Snow

I live 30 miles from Deep Creek at the foot of the mountain. We were getting approx. 1 inch and hours, 7 miles east (Summit Mt) was getting 2 inches and hour. Keysers Ridge (24 miles east) was shut down. Emergency vehicles only in Garret Co. $1000 fine if you were out on the roads. Keysers Ridge on east to Cumberland and South to Terra Alta WV and below, is an entirely different world in the winter. I have not quite 24 inches in my yard. North along the ridge has 3 to 4 ft depending on the area. Drifts much higher.

Western suburbs of Philly here: about 20 inches avg, drifts of up to 4 ft.

Here in CT it will probably be late April before all this stuff melts. I had two feet on the ground _before_ this blizzard started. ;-)

No doubt about it. As soon as you climb the Summit south of Uniontown and beyond to Garrett County (Past the Democratic retreat, Nemecolin Woodlands), the difference is like night and day. Ten degrees cooler w/ 3x as much snow. Amazing what a few thousand feet will do.

As a Frostburg Alumnus, I can relate to the few dozen drinks under our belts but I guess I was too drunk to call the time. The interesting thing about snow in Frostburg is that it falls in Garrett County, blows through Frostburg and actually lands in Cumberland.

I am located just south of Morgantown,WV. We had 24 inches and i spent several hours today digging my driveway out and getting that snowload off my carport before it crushed my car.Just as I was finishing up for the day, it started snowing again.Boy, America, what a country!

We went skiing in Utah a few years back after 4 feet of snow had been dumped on the area. My wife and I took different runs and I tried to cut over and meet up with her again. BIG MISTAKE. After sinking up to my shoulders, I ended up taking my skis off and practically swimming through the drift for about 50 feet. It was exhausting. Stay out of the deep stuff if you can.

Beautiful resort area we visited last fall. Got an email report from Wisp which says that they received 48 inches of snow over the weekend.

More bad news...heavy rain a strong possibility for this upcoming weekend in those areas currently under several feet of snow. Trade those snowshoes for lifejackets while you still can.

I live here on the West Virginia and Maryland border which is in Preston County and Garrett County and we got that 49 inches of snow and then some. We have 5 to 6 foot drifts and we are snowed in like trapped rats in a trap, but we do have plenty of spring water and food! I don't like the situation we are in because of my wife having high blood sugar count, but she doing okay so far, even though yesterday her blood sugar level was at 301. Its down today thank God, but we hope for Tuesday to be plowed out by the road crews. Grassontop

Wisp Ski Resort in McHenry, Garrett County now reports 53 inches (including the final little wave that went through).

Cool! Someone turn the air conditioner up and we will get some more snow! Just kidding! Actually, I would like to see some global warming, but that probably won't be for another month or two! Grassontop
