I have a cousin up there in Garrett Co, MD. Happily, I'm at a much lower altitude if not far away in Mineral Co, WV. "Only" 27 inches in my yard. I'll be shoveling for days on my driveway unless I can get snowplow help.

49 INCHES REPORTED IN WESTERN MARYLAND [GARRETT COUNTRY] In other unrelated news, NOAA personnel discovered to their horror that they had mistakenly substituted Viagra tablets for the usual silver iodide chemical used to seed clouds last week.

Frostburg bump.
I had a couple of friends that went to school there years ago and thus I made a few road trips. We used to get a few dozen drinks under our belts and then call the time. The funny part was that when you called the time, an old lady would answer the phone and read it to you off the clock on her kicthen wall. Even at 2:18 in the morning!

Okay, I'll quit complaining about the "cold" weather here in Austin.

Your response was the funniest thing I've heard today. Poor Tommy. He is again in over his little wicked head.

4 feet of snow is sure a great way to freeze / kill then wash away chemical and or biological agents. Could this be a bit of divine protection for the area of our nations capitol on the eve of war ?

I've heard reports of drift up to 4 feet in rural areas I'm on NY Harbor and we have 18"-22" official in the area, have had 25-45 knot winds, and I've got a 4 1/2' drift in the yard.....and one little bare spot. :(
I said the heck with it and put on my neoprene chest waders to shovel the front, it may look silly, but it's warm and dry! ;-)

Four feet of snow would provide good cover for the radical Islamists to deposit special packages around the grounds of various government buildings, etc. This could be trouble.

Not to rub it in but...Hey! Come to SUNNY HAWAII! Sun's out! Surf's up! Bikinis on the beach! Fire up the hibachi and pop a cold one!

My grandmother lives on Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County. She's away in South Carolina for the winter, though. Smart lady - she knows how it gets in the highlands. She has pictures of drifts higher than the wires on telephone poles!

I'm in Alaska and all mine melted over the last couple of weeks!
The storm that is socking the east, missed us in Chicago. Noreasters are horrific. Chicago blizzards also.

I'll be shoveling for days on my driveway unless I can get snowplow help.Wish you would send some of that snow to us in Colorado. Stay safe! Unless you're having a baby or suffering a heart attack or stroke, there's no reason to be out and about in such weather.

I used to live in Mt. Airy, MD myself and that is a lot of snow, but now I live in Kyoto, Japan, and no snow...CRAP!

I hope you are safe and warm! Northern New England should be okay; the brunt of the storm is staying to the South.
Perhaps a foot expected here overnight and into tomorrow. No biggy.
