The US and UK need only make a token effort at getting everyone else on board. Failing that (as expected), the President needs only to make a statement including the following points:
1. The Iraqis have utterly failed to follow-through on their last chance to disarm, an action required of UN resolution 1441, and - more importantly - the terms of surrender from the 1992 Gulf War. Thus the US remains in a state of war with Iraq.
2. The United Nations has utterly failed to insist that a ruthless dictator - an enemy of the world - adhere to its own requirements. This is intolerable to peace-loving nations, and is counter to the UN's own reason for existence.
3. Because of these situations, the US has no option to insure peace in this region and to secure the interests of ourselves and our friends but forcibly implementing both the terms of surrender and resolution 1441. We have the right to do so under the language of 1441 and because of violations to of terms of surrender.
4. As I speak, this action has begun. Let's roll, and may God bless our troops.

I can't wait until France is liberated and we find out all the collusion France and Iraq have been up to. When France is liberated we will find out that France has been involved in every terrorist attack against the US over the past 10 years, and that Iraq financed it!

It was France who was insisting that 1441 was not sufficient to authorize the use of military force.
Then it was France that came out and said a 1442 was "not necessary."
Obviously, when it became apparent that the US and UK were going to get a second resolution despite the cheese-eating surrender monkies, France came out and said they would oppose it.
And Condi Rice called Iraq a "serial abuser" of the UN?

Exactly: Chirac may object, but will France veto? Unlikely. (after all, they don't call 'em cheese-eating surrender monkies for nuttin)

France (and England) refused to help Poland when the German Nazis invaded despite a treaty between the three. Why should anyone expect them to help anyone else? You forgot one "little" detail. The 1939 invasion of Poland was a joint Nazi-Soviet operation.

As in "Free Iraq, Bomb France" ? :) That works for me. Methinks we made a mistake in trusting De Gaulle to deal with Vichy.

I agree with him. There is no need for a second resolution. Let's roll.

You Know, we would have to have rocks in our heads to give France ANY kind of heads-up about the timing of an attack on Iraq. You just KNOW they would pass that information along to Saddam.
I say that if France offers to help after the campaign starts, we just politely tell them thanks but "no thanks" and let the smelly little treacherous bastards watch their "business deals" go down the rathole.

Did someone say SURRENDER MONKEY??
To: The Wizard
This is as good an example as you can get when you have minority rule. You should NEVER let a small number hold up what the larger number wants to do.These people are complete idiots.
To: dfwgator
that may be so, but treaties are meant to be honored, not decided afterwards that they are inconvenient

I'm picturing that scene on Hombre where Paul Newman yells down to Richard Boone, "Hey? How you gonna get back down those steps?" Boone's character, Grimes, is quickly, quickly scrambling down, begging them not to shoot. Hahahahahaha.
