Hollywood hunk George Clooney is starting to consider a full-time career as a movie director - because he doesn't believe he'll stay good looking enough to keep on acting. The Ocean's Eleven star, who stepped behind the camera for his new flick Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, admits that he'll soon have to seriously consider life as a filmmaker when his looks begin to fade. He says, "Eventually, my looks will fall apart and I'll have to give up. You direct to have some control over your career when people say, 'I don't want to see you act anymore.'" The 41-year-old screen star adds, "Paul Newman is acting almost into his 80s, but name another one. Robert Duvall? Fine. But he's Robert Duvall! He did To Kill A Mockingbird. I did Batman & Robin. He did Network. I did Battle Of The Network Stars. There is a difference."

Where to begin!
First, this is the guy who accuses W of being dim.
Second, just the other day he was whining in an article about not getting enough roles offered to him. Perhaps, he has painted himself into the Alec Baldwin corner.
Third, from what I have been hearing about his directing, I wouldn't bet the farm if I was him.

But if he had any SUBSTANCE, he would be a desired commodity. He is admitting to everyone that he is all STYLE (??!?) and NO TALENT.

Eventually, my looks will fall apart and I'll have to give up. This statement is just ALL SORTS OF WRONG coming from a man. Or am I just sexist?

PS-- also, wouldn't one have to HAVE looks in the first place in order to have them fall apart? Clooney is a hunk o' generic potted meat product.

As a female I don't find him attractive at all. He's also too dumb for me. He's your typical vain loser.

I had the misfortune of sitting through the painful Solaris, where one stared at the screen where minutes went by between incoherent dialog.

He was one of my favorites until his remarks about Bush. He shouldn't worry about his looks hurting his career. He should be more concerned about his big mouth! He has lost my support!
To: Paul Atreides
If his current film is any indication I would say he might have a successful career as Direct to Video and Tv director.
David Lean or Orson Welles he ain't nor will he ever be!LOL

A way to contact this guy, Clooney, surely would be appreciated.

Really?
Tell that to Sean Connery.
Ah...but wait, he's not a limp wristed leftist poof.

You direct to have some control over your career when people say, 'I don't want to see you act anymore.'The only control you'll have (in my book) is how quickly you'll sabotage your name desirability when it's associated with any project! Un-American actors and other famous people should realize...we already don't want to see you act anymore...nor are we enthralled with your directorial projects either.

"Hollywood hunk George Clooney is starting to consider a full-time career as a movie director - because he doesn't believe he'll stay good looking enough to keep on acting" It's probably more of a case of nobody wants to see his ugly anti-american face in the movies because of his anti-american politics. He certainly is amongst the ranks of Sarrandon, ODonnell, Penn and the material whore. Tuff Luck georgie!

I can think of several actors, older than George, who are still getting work: Mel Gibson, Al Pacino, Sean Connery, Patrick Stewart, just to name a few.
