See Reply #38, (philman_36) posted on another thread: "Bill Clinton-Future UN Secretary General?," Feb. 8, 2003 LINK
I read the UN Charter and searched the internet and can't find anything that prohibits X42's appointment as Secretary-General.
If there is any rule, custom, or tradition regarding this appointment remember that Clinton will let nothing stand in the way of his ambition.

It is my hope that Al Sharpton will be nominated as the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate and that Bill Clinton will take over the head job (get it - head job) at the U.N.

What better opportunity for a "two-fer" this would make by guaranteeing Dubya the White House and the U.S. OUT of the U.N.

PSSST! .. Let's Do All We Can..

And Protect Terrorism....

I have looked and looked myself -- In fact, the place I had bookmarked from last year no longer appears. I have found numerous mentions that the five permanent security council members have agreement among themselves that no one from those countries will serve. Last summer we had a whole resolution on the fact but I cannot find it.

In fact, the UN site is not even close to what it used to be. I had seven different bookmarks on various items for the UN and none of the bookmarks work!

I cannot even find the amendments for the UN that I know are there. Everytime I click on the link, I get an error message.

Thank you. I missed that thread.

Article 8 The United Nations shall place no restrictions on the eligibility of men and women to participate in any capacity and under conditions of equality in its principal and subsidiary organs.

This is it. Bill Clinton can be Sec. General.

Thank you for pointing out my error. I wish that I had been right, though, for no reason other than we would be rid of him. But wishes...horses...beggars...you know.;o)

"...five permanent security council members have agreement among themselves that no one from those countries will serve."

That's what I had seen, as well. However, it looks as though that isn't set in stone. Check Marianne's post #161.

Yes, the UN site isn't what it used to be. The only thing I found there is that the Security Council can set it's own rules. If they want Clinton to be Sec. General, they can do it.

Yuck!;o(

That's what I came up with too! In fact, it looks like under Annan a lot of things are changing with a limited number of people voting.

I distinctly remember last year reading that no one from the permanent security council members could be Secretary-General. I couldn't even find the amendment that gave them 5 permanent members veto power.

"In fact, it looks like under Annan a lot of things are changing with a limited number of people voting."

That is very scary. I hope President Bush has the UN and Annan on his radar screen as stealth members of the "Axis of Evil." The UN needs to be nuked, figuratively speaking.

If iraq, france, and germany do not destroy the UN, clinton will surely finish the job.

Couldn't agree with you more! Annan and his band scare me since they seem to be thrown in with France, Germany, and Russia. The Non-aligned World Countries seem to be favored except for Israel who they all seem to hate!

Hopefully, when all is said and done, France, Germany, and the UN will be irrelevent. I still have a little hope for Russia, but we'll just have to wait and see where they unltimately decide to cast their lot.

Remember those who laughed at our paranoia when we said this was his long-range goal on the Trannie threads three years ago? I wonder if they are still laughing...

If "The Bent One" gets this "gig," we can ONLY HOPE that the US repudiates ALL association with that Failed & Discredited Gaggle of Anti-Democratic Sociopaths!

America has NEVER NEEDED the UN; but they SURE seem to need us!

While Republicans are in the majority certainly should consider organizing their own gala blockbuster fund raiser to shut the UN down on America's sovereign land of the FRee and help move it to where Bill Clinton will feel really welcomed and comfortable, like Bejing, or Havana, or Baghdad, or how about right next store to Mandella's home or his and the little Mrs. good friends, the Arafats.

Doesn't matter if the US is totally out of the UN! IF Bill is in charge, he commands the 'respect' of the whole world thereby influencing US elections.

He doesn't even have to bring up Hillary's name the whole time he is SG. Dumb American voters will automatically associated the two 'together'. Or, 'wouldn't it be neat if BC was head of the UN and HC was our Presiden?!!?' Neat-O!

Be VERY afraid.
