Yep. They figured that they couldn't get any more green laps in today, and about the time they would have gotten the track dry enough to do anything more than push these cars across the the start/finish line, the solid line of showers would have hit.

Guess they wanted the fans to be dry on their walk to their cars. But looks like they wouldn't have gotten much more racing without another delay in an half hour or so.

They could have waited 30 more minutes, but that would have risked messing up FOX's sweeps programming.

Would you rather have to repair half the Daytona wall after the entire field takes it out in the rain :-)

Of course not.. Saturday night would have been a nice night for racing. NASCAR needs to be a bit more flexible.

If it's not raining in Daytona at 6:30 EST, I'll share your beef. However, it looks like that's exactly when the solid line of showers will hit.

Well, the real race starts as the sponsors jets, which have been spooled up for the last 30 minutes, do their damndest to get off Runway 16/34.

Ground and tower controllers will have their hands full as they try to get these moops off the ground.

Good; you set up for a night race when you've been preparing all winter long, then all week for an afternoon race (remember, all the practices except one of the Shootout ones were during the day).

"NASCAR needs to be a bit more flexible. "

Its all about the money. Period. If they were serious racers they would have rain tires. This is bull crap.

Isn;t the idea that the crews can adjust their cars for the conditions, even night racing? Oh well. On to next week.
