..."And where in the heck was he getting the 500k number of casualties? "...I noticed that, as well. He spewed out that number, robotically, two or three times, but the interviewer didn't challenge him.

Now you all know why I do not want to see the draft reinstated!!!! As a current 27 year veteran I don't want to see trash like that in Our Military!!!! He took an oath to defend this country!!!! Sept. 11th, 2001 this country was attacked!!!! Over 3000 citizens died in this attack. Terrorists cannot be allowed to possess the weapons of mass destruction that Hussein's regime refuses to give up for U.N. destruction!!!! This reservist is indeed a traitor and deserves time in Leavenworth!!!!
To: Keith in Iowa
No! Call him up and put him on point!
To: Atchafalaya
Bad idea. He cannot be trusted anywhere, much less anywhere in combat.
Court martial, Dishonorable Discharge, reduction in rate to E-1, hard time at Leavenworth. That'll do it.

See my post #22 above
To: snippy_about_it
He said he was an American of Pakistani origin.
He said most of the world was against this war, but he's supposed to be an AMERICAN who would fight to prevent another terrorist attack on our country.
TRAITOR!!!

Jeepers! Thanks for the heads up! And I agree with you.
To: Gamecock
Missed it - (one less dent in the TV)
I agree with those who said the guy needs hard time in the brig.

I get your point. I'm still not sure where I stand on the issue, FR is, as usual, a great place to read some great info as I try to decide.
Thanks

Works for me.
Question is, have DoD or the Marine Corps the intestinal fortitude to Court Martial this guy?

I disagree, if everyone knows and he knows they know and all are locked and loaded; he will function as expected or fold and wind up on charges. I think his appearance is bullshit. Put him on point on day one and remind him to walk ssssooooffftttlllyyy!!!!!
To: Atchafalaya
Yours is a difficult post to respond to, because there is a certain "Justice" in what you suggest: namely, that his squadmates would either force him to do the right thing, or shoot him in the back if he didn't.
My military leadership training compels me to respectfully disagree.
In the military, a Commander's "Lack of confidence" in a person' skills, abilities and attitude is sufficient cause for immediate relief of command, most especially when other people's lives depend on the leader's judgement. I have no confidence that this guy would do anything other than endanger the lives of every Marine near him who would, in your scenario, depend on his skills at the point. IMHO, he cannot, and must not, be trusted, and should not be allowed to put other Marines in Harm's Way.
I'll stay with Court Martial, Dishonorable Discharge, reduction in rate to E-1 and hard time at Leavenworth, TYVM.
To encourage the others!
