Wake Up America: Another Liberal Agenda Exposed

A few weeks ago my son got into trouble at school, nothing serious, but the school wanted him to go through a process of what is called restorative justice. I agreed after I learned that Florida Governor Jeb Bush and several other leaders in the GOP support this idea. We were referred to a group called the Council on Reconciliation and Restorative and Transformative Justice (CORRTJ). It was not until after the dust had settled that we discovered what we had gotten ourselves into.

I read somewhere that this list is addictive. Now I see what they mean. I'm not sure if this will help or add more confusion, but I found this list of "Sponsors" to their 2002 program at http://www.fcrjquaker.org/activities/activities.html

Why would a group that is so obviously liberal even want someone like Governor Bush?

PROCLAMATIONS OF SUPPORT FOR RESTORATIVE JUSTICE WEEK

Friends Committee on Restorative Justice is very happy to see grassroots community events such as Restorative Justice Week begin to receive support from our governmental leaders. We believe restorative justice must be owned by the communities and government recognition is an important step in the process. We feel it is important to remember that restorative justice offers a balance focus on victims, offenders and members of the affected community. Equally important is the shared values that call us to this new vision of justice: accountability, reparation, voluntary apologies, forgiveness, mercy, reconciliation, spiritual healing, and reintegration into the community for victims and offenders. Restorative justice is not owned by any faith, but is shared equally by all people of the world. We welcome these leaders of the political communities and encourage them to work with us beyond Restorative Justice Week in developing a vision of justice in which we can all be proud. This is a beginning, not an ending in our journey.

PLANNING PROCESS FOR RESTORATIVE JUSTICE WEEK 2003!

Planning for Restorative Justice Week 2003, April 13-20 has moved into the final stages. Truth and Reconcilation will be the theme for this event as we work to encourage communites across North America and beyond to build strong communities centered around the values of justice as healing. The Council on Reconciliation and Restorative and rTransformative Justice (CORRTJ welcomes co-sponsors from across a broad range of interests and perspectives as we build this purely grassroots program. Work is continuing as we finalize details about specific programs that will be in various communities. We invite you to join our efforts and work to make this vision a reality in your community. Please continue to refer to these pages often as more details become known about the 2003 program!

The community grassroots Restorative Justice Week program has grown into a premier event of the Restorative Justice paradigm. Our first program in 2000 was limited to one community and centered around one event with Marc Forget. In 2001 we added a handful of new communties. 2002 saw the event expand across ten states; six countries and include thirty-two co-sponsors. Already 2003 is shaping to be a time where we develop even stronger roots in the community and build an atmopshere where restorative justice moves away from research and academic theory and becomes a the first option in responding to all crime and conflict.

We are looking for people who feel called to work on the Restorative Justice Week 2003 Planning Committee. This committee will as needed From January-February 2003. Program ideas, sponsorship questions, publicity, political concerns and other items will be on the agenda for this session If you are interested in participating in this process please contact us at CORRTJ
You will need the telephone number and access code to participate in this call. The session will be limited to 90 minutes. Our bridge line will not host more than 30 participants in one call.
This call will begin at 8:00PM EST / 5:00PM PST. We are entering a period when we will meet as often as needed to get our work done.

Not a big group nor very well established at this point.... no funding to speak of... International in scope.... but worth watching..

Gov. Bush isn't involved as far as I can tell...... Just issued a state proclamation in 02, nothing in 01 and nothing in 03 that I find.

Yes, I will leave all information I can find about this group (related to Governor Bush, and questionable affiliations, in this thread). Could it be that the so-called Council is really a gathering place for several groups and that's why why is why the different names????
