Our system of government, I believe, is still strong.
These individuals are broken and need to be removed. Election 2004 hopefully will be the answer to removing a large number of them.
Harry Reid
Tom Daschle
John Corzine
Tim Johnson
Patrick Leahy
Charles Schumer
Barbara Boxer
Robert Byrd
Hillary Clinton
Russ Feingold
Patrick Leahy
Patty Murry
Sarbanes
Richard Durbin
So that it's bipartisan I'll add
Arlan "Scottish Rule" Spectre
Jim "jumping" Jeffords
They are petty, unforgiving, bitter individuals who can't see past their own personal issues to govern on behalf of America.

I AGREE AND FROM THE STORY I POSTED ABOVE MAKES YOUR POINT RATHER WELL ...
The duty they have is part of the balance to protect the Constitution, not an exercise in choosing those with the proper SOCIALIST ideology, which they favor.

In these times of having to destroy liberals, the destruction ain't gonna be pretty but it must be done! They are all a threat to our government.

reversing 17th amendment is one of the missions of freerepublic.....
We call for the repeal of the 17th amendment, which will reverse the independence of the Senate and reestablish the Senate as a representative of the State governments, as intended by the Founding Fathers. This arrangement was intended to be a critical check against illegal federal expansion over the States, and the people residing in the various States, and will act to return the powers not granted to the federal government, as enumerated in the Constitution, to the states.

Just once I would like to see a rat do something that is good for the country instead of what is good for their party.

Trust me there's a tie for first place. It works out for me since I'm from Vegas to see Harry sent home to his family first.

I'd toss all 100 of them out. In my book, they're all compromised. Whether by their own fault or not, there are 900 FBI files floating around that compromises the whole body.
I'm not as concerned about the House, as there are 435 of them, their constituencies are pretty small, and they are up for re-election every two years, but there are only 100 Senators, they're there for six years at a time, and they have a HUGE impact on things.

Well now you know what the saying is. He doesn't have to go home, but he has to leave the Senate.

All 100? There's a few strong ones on the GOP side. They just needed a strong leader like Bush to remind them of who they are and why they come to Washington to fight.
I hope Spectre get a deep desire to spend time with the family and move along.

Yes. All 100 -- a clean sweep.
I know there are strong GOP Senators, but IMO, the whole body is corrupted. It's time to start over with fresh blood.

Was the 17th Amendment an unconstitutional amendment? Article V of the Constitution does not allow constitutional amendments that deprive a state of its equal representation in the Senate without the state's consent. Did the 17th Amendment deprive states that did not ratify of their equal representation without their consent?
To: aristeides
check this out its time to end the 17th Amendment.
Among the concerns expressed by all about the damage caused by the 17th it is clear that the best understood harm is the fact that within the lawmaking body of Congress the form of government has been altered from a Republican form to a Democratic form. What is not so universally understood is that;
