The Bulgarian ambassador to the UN just said that they fully supported the French initiative of Villepin, that is more inspections.

"You are either with us, or with the terrorist. That still stands." Saddam will be disarmed "one way or the other."

It wouldn't work with today's Saddam of course. Like the phrase that has been thrown around "we know disarmament when we see it" I suspect a true change and a true willingness to disarm would be accompanied with such gusto to show everything that we would eventually find them annoying. Even going to war grants no surety that everything is found, what went to Syria, what went to Iran and into the no-mans land mountains? That is why Bush knows a regime change is needed. Saddam won't change, but he can avoid all-out war by leaving and letting us look and find.
The point here I think is that if by some miracle, if Saddam died of a heart attack for example and a regime of common sense took over Iraq there would be no need for soldiers and deaths and damage as long as we those weapons could be found and destroyed. We don't want to kill anybody or take over anybody's land, we will if we must but all we want is disarmament.

Interesting, on CNN, above the crawl, it is saying " members of congress told to ready emergency supplies."

Yuppers, they received their "gas masks" yesterday, but then again that might have been for those having to put up with the Rats filibuster on Estrada.

I sure hope you're right. My fervent wish is that we have a quick, clean war, and in so doing, gain intelligence from defectors as to the location of weapons and the labs that generate them, whereupon we can destroy them, and make the UN look really foolish (not that they don't do a pretty good job of that already). And of course, we remove Saddam and his inner circle from power.

President Bush apeaking at the FBI:
"When I speak about the war on terror, I don't only talk about Al Qaeada, I talk about Iraq."
"Saddam Hussein is a danger. And that's why he will be disarmed, one way or another."
"In order to hunt the terrorists down one by one, our intelligence agencies must cooperate.."
"We've enhanced overseas cooperation as well. When you read in the newspaper that an overseas operation has hauled in (terrorist) networks it is because we shared intelligence."
Talking about the new cooperation between agencies of the fed. gov. - and between state, Fed and local agencies ..."joint task forces" on terrorism.
"We must give them the tools necessary so they can do their job."
Talking about the new "Terrorist Threat Integration Center."
Making sure that whatever info they have in DC can make it quickly to local officials re. terrorist threats.
"As I said in my SOTU, "Liberty is not America's gift to the world, it is God's gift to each and every human being"."
"The condition of the Iraqi citizens is in our minds and in our hearts."
"Thank you for caring about your country. May God bless your work. God bless our country.
