They can't make the dems filibuster without 51 Republicans on or near the floor. So without McConnell, they can't do it. And they won't do it until they get back from the recess. After the recess, the plan right now is to set aside eight days for the filibuster.

Yeah, what a great patriot you are. Send a negative e-mail to our troops in order to make your political point.

I don't recall ever reading a positive statement from you on this forum. Just gripe after gripe.

It doesn't matter how much per week McConnell is making if he can't work because he just had open heart surgery...

Maybe they are thinking of a possible terroist attack at the capitol next week. It was a possible foiled attack on 911.

Knock it off. You claim to be a Republican, but your convictions seem to be made of jello.

Frist really has no choice but to do this.

He blinked. So far, when chips are down, he's no better than Lott.

(Sorry, I just couldn't resist tweaking those who've said "Frist has balls, Lott didn't.")

I like Frist, but those who criticized Lott for his spinelessness haven't a clue as to how the Senate works.

I'm extremely critical of Frist, but he simply can't do this thing right now and he knows it. He needs 51 senators on the Hill at all times during a filibuster, or else they'll fail a quorum call and automatically adjourn.

They'll wait until McConnell is back and Bunning's wife is set. Then they'll go for eight days of nothing but Estrada.

Unless, of course, the war starts, in which case I think we'll get him through, no prob.

You have just outed yourself once again on this thread by calling Republicans liberals.

I think Todd calls 'em as he sees 'em.

I do too. GW is a liberal.
