Are You Listening to This? Hispanics On Edge of Revolt Over Estrada!
Rush Limbaugh ^ | 2/13/03 | LS

Posted on 02/13/2003 12:03:45 PM PST by LS

The Dems stepped in it, big time. Hispanics have been calling in to Rush---he took four in a row, and said he could have taken 100 today---who are outraged over the Dems' treatment of Estrada.

Every one claimed to be either a Dem or a "former" Dem, with a couple of them virtually switching today. They ALL spoke highly of Bush. The idiot Dems have no idea how badly this is hurting them!!!

Whoa boy! Feinstein AND Boxer?

Now that is serious. You got what, 80-90 IQ points lined up against Estrada? Very serious, indeed. This could really cut big-time into the illegal alien vote in California.

Take a note to the California Democratic Committee:
"Illegal aliens need not actually exist in order to create fake registrations. Let us harken back to our glorious victory in which a Polish Girl (aka Rep Sanchez, D. CA)won handily with the votes of many folks who are not to be found anywhere on this planet."

I think it's wrong for Republicans to overplay to the outrage of Hispanics.

Surely the Dems aren’t trying to kill Estrada's nomination because he’s Hispanic. They’re opposed because they believe he’s a conservative. What if the tables were turned, and the Dems were trying to confirm a liberal Hispanic nominee and the Republicans were trying to oppose it? We would be outraged if the Dems cried "racism."

I think Republicans are playing a potentially dangerous game by playing the race card. We are the party that says people should be judged by their merits. This is a situation in which the Dems are opposing Estrada on policy, not race.

We need to get beyond this. Anyone who thinks we will make permanent inroads with Hispanic voters based on this is kidding himself. We need to appeal on our principles of free markets and limited government, not racial politics.

There was an Hispanic former Marine that was on Rush's show today in the third hour that made me proud to be an American all over again. The fellow gave it all up and Rush let him roll. He spoke about the American dream and it was for all of us he spoke. I hope that he shows up somewhere else soon.

Anybody else hear him speak?

Rush's point was that they're not in top positions -- like top policy positions. HUD, Transportation are big jobs, but they ain't secretary of state of national security advisor. He was quite clear, I thought.

Thomas because he had gone off of the plantation.

That didn't really help the Republicans with the Black vote much. I'd believe the Hispanics were becoming Conservative if they called in to Rush's show to support the nomination of a Black or White Conservative, not just for a Hispanic. I don't think race cards should be used because they can backfire. If nominating a Hispanic (as opposed to nominating a Conservative no matter the race) is the only way to get their votes, then they aren't true Conservatives. I voted for Keyes ---not because he was black but because he was a Conservative, I didn't care the race.

That may be part of the plan, lol. Anyway, what Inhofe said last night went out on the Spanish networks from what I heard. Ads are being run as well.
The republicans knew the democrats plan. Again, what would idiot Lott do if he were still majority leader. I hate to think.

"are the dems really this dumb?"

They painted themselves into a corner. Now they lose no matter what they do. They can lose a judicial appointment to conservatives or they can lose a chunk of Hispanic vote. They have chosen to sacrifice the Hispanic vote (while hoping that the erosion won't be too bad).

The really funny part is that Estrada will get in anyway, and the smart thing for them would have been to just acknowledge this and let the Senate vote proceed. So I guess the answer to your question is, "yes, they are that dumb."

Frist made a good start by calling the Democrats' bluff.

A Senate Majority Leader who actually has some brains.

What a refreshing change!

As I said on a previous post:

¡Esté muy atemorizado usted bastardos de Clintonista! Soy Hispana, voto y soy una Republicana. ¡Yo no estoy sola!

Be very afraid you Clintonista bastards! I'm Hispanic, I vote and I'm a Republican. I am not alone!

¡Pendejos sin vergüenza!

Did you ever read "The Real Anita Hill" book? Justice Thomas said he did feel like it was a lynching.

They did the same thing to BORK
Lynching was not the proper term

I didn't state that all Hispanics in the country are illegal. My charge is that both parties believe that they can win the Hispanic/Latino vote by allowing lots more hispanics to settle the country, legally or not.

If you didn't know, Bush stated that the flood of illegal Mexicans is nothing but an expression of their 'family values'. I understand that the myth is that W is stupid. I fully disagree. He only 'acts' stupid because he assumes that the vast majority of the voting public is stupid. Apparently, his assumption is quite correct.

God bless your for your racial neutrality, but you are incorrect. For the Democrats the Estrada nomination is PRIMARILY about race

Was BORK about race and how about the other Judge that they wouldn't allow a vote on when they had the majority . No race there

It is his conservatism
