Maybe it's just me, but I thought a judge was supposed to apply the law equally, and that "fighting for [Latinos]" was not part of the job description. Naaaaw, in liberal-land laws only get applied as the judge feels is appropriate. ;)

My post (mischaracterized in yours) said that the WHITE HOUSE refuses to release the memoranda written by Estrada. Surely, even you must recognize that the WHITE HOUSE is able to release the memoranda without any ethics breach. I'm sure that you are aware that the "memoranda" being discussed here are those that lawyers like Estrada, working for people like the Solicitor General, write when assigned a case by the boss. The lawyer in question may not agree with the position that he/she is assigned to write but since they are good lawyers and good employees to do what they are told.
Now consider that such a lawyer, a few years down the line, is nominated for a judgeship. And the Senate asks for copies of these memoranda. Just how many would the Senate have to get before the Solicitor General would find it impossible to find another lawyer stupid enough to write a memo?
And that is exactly why all seven living Solicitors General (four DemocRATs and three Republicans) have been adamant in telling the Justice Depart NOT TO RELEASE the memos.
Your RAT friends are arguing against those seven living Solicitors General in the Senate, and they will lose, they will lose and they will lose.

Ask her how many she got FOR Estrada. She did say "300 for" when she presented her "8000 against" line.

Did Hillary get her moles inside the Justice Department to give her these papers that are not to be released according to seven solicitors of both parties? If we could only prove she has those papers, she would be history! I have no doubt about that

Feinstein claims she gets more calls against then for. Well, if she's telling the truth, it still is worthless. You see, MANY people REFUSE to call a Senator like Boxer, or even Feinstein. So her calls are naturally going to have what we call a selection bias. Same thing with say Saxby Chambliss. I bet his calls are overwhelmingly in FAVOR, because libs KNOW he will support Estrada. In other words, more demagoguery by the Dems.

Everytime someone thinks that this Republican Senate is going to fold, you are going to hear from me.
Senator Frist is in charge and is prepared to continue this as long as it takes. In order to help Republicans in the Senate, we need to give them our support -- call, fax, phone with that support and tell them to keep going until Estrada is on the Bench!
On the other hand, call your DemocRAT Senators and tell them to vote for cloture. We have the votes to pass the nomination and we need only a few more DemocRAT votes to invoke cloture. Let's see if we can help flip some of these RATs. They don't have to vote for Estrada -- just vote to end the filibuster.
If you all remember during the Ashcroft hearings, Senator Feingold (D-WI) did the honorable thing and voted to allow the Ashcroft nomination to go the floor of the Senate even though he had not plans to vote for him.
Now no more "Republicans are going to cave on here" -- time to give the Republican Senators and Miguel Estrada our support. We cannot lose this nomination because we have a SCOTUS nomination probably in the near future. We need to show we can WIN!

arguing against those seven living Solicitors General in the Senate, and they will lose, they will lose and they will lose. The kicker is that 4 of the SG's are Democrates.

What part of attorney-client privledge do you and Schumer not understand?
You, I can understand not knowing abotu attorney-client privledge, but Schumer is supposedly a lawyer - he, of all people should know better.
The Left is trying to lynch Estrada's reputation.

One problem will be getting the word out to those who don't use alternative sources of news Personally I send out news articles to everyone on my email list all the time, mainly because I know the main stream media will never report to truth

The kicker is that 4 of the SG's are Democrates. Including Clinton appointees like Seth Waxman.

Alternative theory..I agree that Hill's behind this..if she's decided NOT to run in 2004...is she leading the Dem party on a kamikaze mission..... I have wondered that same thing! This makes absolutely no sense to alienate an entire segment of people unless there is an ulterior motive. By 2008, I believe she doesn't stand a chance after the DemocRATs keep losing seats.

THIS IS THE OUT COME ON THIS MATTER
1. Estrada is going to be voted in
2. democrats are going to be forever known as the party that shut down the govt at a time of war
3. democrats are going to be known as racist over this matter...........
THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE......as long as the GOP does not cave and gets the message out every second it can,,,,,,,
ping me when Estrada is voted in, thanks!!!!!! :>)

That's quite a shock. I hope you're wrong... It would greatly embolden the Dems to knock off anyone who doesn't pass their litmus test in the future.
Note the the Dems... Bush and the Republicans WON the election. Get over it. Using a technicality like a fillibuster is just wrong.
The Republicans HAVE to show some more backbone. Otherwise, we may as well have Trent Lott as the ML.
To: TontoKowalski
Or, "Mr. Estrada, is it true that you made it to where you are without affirmative action, welfare, ESL and actually immigrated here legally before becoming a U.S. citizen? We can't have you up there on the Federal Bench Mr. Estrada as that kind of example. What kind of message would that send to the other hispanics in this country?"
Pathetic that the RATS seem to think this way.

The Left is trying to lynch Estrada's reputation.Yeah, but they can't get away from that pesky 'racism' link that we keep throwing in their faces. Notice that KKK Byrd is noticably quiet today...
