I'll grit my teeth and call my temporary senators: Leiberman and Dodd. And Hillary! (I hope a lightening bolt doesn't strike me.) Oh, and Harry Reid. I'm just a glutton for punishment.
To: PhiKapMom
The Democrats aren't doing their Constitutional duty. When Bush appoints Estrada, I suggest he do it in New Orleans, Harlem, South Central LA or Miami. No, he should embark on an Estrada road trip to all those venues. Let Breaux stand with him in the Big Easy, he's a man of honor in this case. Don't just stick it up the tailpipes of the racist RATS, ravish them on their home courts. No lube.

We both remember that fundraiser for Cantwell, because Hillary! did bring in the port-a-potties, and they were set in her backyard. Such tacky behavior.

Well, let it keep ringing, they'r probably flooded with calls and it is after 6pm in DC. In every office I've called today the phones were ringing constantly, they had to put me on hold more than once while they grabbed other lines. You haven't gotten his voice mail, have you ? If all else fails call the cloakroom and ask them to ring his office for you.

Orin's just tired......he needs a good steak, and a few hours nap...see my #1157 to you..you may have missed it
To: PhiKapMom
Hatch ws very passionate and obviously tired. Even if he loses this battle he has made great progress in the war. Remember Bush has a proposal to stream line the whole process and this fillibuster may provide the grease needed.

I heard Hatch on Hannity a while ago. There are procedural problems with keeping this going on through recess. Several senators are recuperating from surgery. For example, McConnell is recovering from bypass surgery. Another senator's wife is undergoing medical treatment.
If Frist required the Rats to debate through the recess, the Dems could leave a skeleton crew in DC and at anytime could note the absence of a quorum. If the Pubbies can't get their troops to respond, the Rats could require a cloture vote which the Pubbies would lose. Frist really has no choice but to do this.
I think a week of pressure will help more than hurt. When they get back, bombs will be dropping over Baghdad and people will want to know why the Senate is still in filibuster.
Hatch is just tired.

I just talked to a girl at Sen Hatch's number.
I ask her about the rumors we are hearing from his interview on Hannity and she assured me they were not true
She told me there were a lot of things going on behind the scenes, said she is recieving call after call from all over the country, she said it was absolutely crazy around here.
She transferred me to Feinstein's office and I voiced my concerns in no uncertain terms.

Hatch is one of the few who actually isn't afraid of the Dems.
