"I've never seen anything like this. Not in my whole time in the Senate. And I think it's wrong."

"And you know what's driving this? (outside leftwing groups).. led by the People for the American Way." "My colleagues on the other side are listening to that stuff?!"

Hillary has clintonized the Senate...

Sen. Jon Kyl:

"There have been two primary protests (to this nominee)."

"I can not believe that (spite) is the motivation of any of my colleagues on the other side."

"He answered every question that was asked of him." A full day in the hearing.

"25 pages of answers" - questionaire from the judiciary committee. Every one fully answered.

"It's not o.k. for the President to know how a candidate feels about an issue, (but the Senators are entitled)."

"A filibuster of a judge. That's fundamentally wrong."

"It's going to poison the consideration of nominees from here on - Democrats and Republicans."

"Five out the nine members of the DC Court of Appeals (didn't serve as judges)."

"I don't want us setting a glass ceiling for minorities just because not as many of them have served as judges."

"We should have a vote for cloture and have an up or down vote."

Sen. Kyl will bring to the floor, the many comments over the years from colleagues saying that filibustering a judicial nominee is wrong....including Sen. Leahy.

"Why is it different with Miguel Estrada?"

"Why would you deny the right of the other Senators to cast a vote on a nominee?"

If you don't agree with Miguel's answers, at least allow a vote and vote "NO."

"I practiced 20 years in law and only got to the Supreme Court 3 times. That's pretty good. 15 times (Miguel) got there."

Leahy says that Estrada's refusal to answer whether he prefers burritos over tacos is a sign of a stealth nominee and a Clarence Thomas in waiting.

Rush thinks Landrieu will be backed into voting for Estrada after all.

(He misspoke, though, and said Ben Nighthorse Campbell would vote with the Repubs...he is a Repub.! I think he meant Ben Nelson.)

The rule says it requires 3/5 of the total number of senators to invoke cloture, not 3/5 of the number of senators present and voting.

I guess it all depends on how you define 'Senator' ...

Graham's phone guy said today that Graham hasn't decided, but that he believes that there are REPUBLICANS who would not vote for Miguel. I said, "NAME ONE!" Sen. Nelson hasn't decided, either. I said, "He's had over 600 days to decide. Will he know by the end of the day?"

Call the Senators!

It's all about Estrada arguing before the Supreme Court in the matter of Bush v. Gore during the election fiasco.

Since a Majority constitutes a quorom to do business, they should stay, and stay, and stay, and push every possible piece of business repugnant to the Democrats in the Wee hours.

And Send for them One every thirty minutes, starting at say midnight, one at a Time as provided for in Senate Rule 6.

I don't get it. Rule 6.1 reads that "A quorum shall consist of a majority of the Senators duly chosen and sworn." Now, Rule 6.4 reads "Whenever upon such roll call it shall be ascertained that a quorum is not present, a majority of the Senators present may direct the Sergeant at Arms to request, and, when necessary, to compel the attendance of the absent Senators, which order shall be determined without debate; and pending its execution, and until a quorum shall be present, no debate nor motion, except to adjourn, or to recess pursuant to a previous order entered by unanimous consent, shall be in order."

So, if the Republicans have a majority, then when all Republicans are in attendance a quorum is assured. If a quorum is present, Rule 6.4 implies that compelling the attendance isn't permitted.

And of that list, a certain Sen. Graham would like to run for President.

Graham, Senator and former Governor of Florida, temporary home of Elian Gonzalez.

Hillary has clintonized the Senate...

Yes. Sen. Reid now claiming that the Hispanic Congressional Caucus is the voice of reason. This caucus kicked out Republican hispanics and is, according to Sen. Hatch, a Democratic party machine.

Now Reid is smearing Mr. Fielding for putting an ad exposing these Rats in the paper.

Harry Reid just called the ABA partisan? Lol!

These Democrats hate our President.
