The Is-There-A-Run-On-Duct-Tape-Yet? thread

Has anyone bought plastic and tape as mentioned by Tom Ridge. I am sure some hard core Freepers already have it, left over from Y2K. I remember reading stories how the Israelis had all this stuff at the ready.
When is the Hajj over? When does Hajji come home? Will MSNBC run a Countown to Hajj ticker?
Maybe we should tape Gravis into his chair.

I'm not sure what I did to deserve name-calling, and I'm sorry you don't like sarcastic, black humor. You should keep that testosterone under control.

Thanks, kcvl. I know there are a lot of differing and opposing views to alternatives to the usual medical procedures. I appreciate your leading me to this one. M

I bought a couple of rolls. Waiting for the stores to run out, and auction it off on EBAY! $$$$$$$$$
It's already happening...I checked ebay already, and duct tape is on the auction block. Now we need to auction plastic sheeting...

I still haven't seen a real answer to the question of whether or not duct tape and plastic sheeting will do any good. Bio attacks are going to be passed person to person. A dirty/chemical bomb is not going to do much beyond a localized area. And if you are close enough are you really going to have enough time to make a safe room?
Seems to me the best bet is to drive away from the danger and not worry about a bio attack because by the time we figure it out it will be too late. Any opinions?

I will report that Lowes in Burbank CA has duct tape, but is almost out of clear plastic sheeting (2, 4 or 6mm)...you can still get 200 feet rolls of clear, or dark sheeting of all sizes. Funny to see 10 different people asking where the duct tape was. The Frys battery section is getting low too.

Duct tape won't get it. There is a type of tape made especially for mending/joining polyethylene. Get that. It'll mend vinyl toys like beach balls or the inflatable 'Blues Clues thinking chair' so popular with (and abused by) my three year old, too.

My son is a team leader at the local Lowe's Home Improvement Center. They sold out of duct tape by noon yesterday.

I bought my 5 gallon water container last week and some off the shelf respirators...but no duct tape....dang it!

Like firearms ammunition and gold -
One can never have too much duct tapeOn a side note if one has a source of compressed air or oxygen a sloww bleed will give the house a positive air pressure that will keep out chemical, biological or radiological agents for a time. I am talking a very slow bleed anything positive will do.

Re: bio attack. This may provide some temporary shelter if there is sufficent warning. This precaution is actually more for a radiological or chemical weapon. Dribving away from a chemical attack while it is still in the air might be very very risky when one could sit out the attack for a day or two and come out safely depending upon the nature of the Chem weapon used.
