Does the guy look like a certain person from foodtv? Ming's taking his show on the road! In search of creative cuisine and culinary adventure, Ming travels the U.S. with chef knife in tow. He'll rustle up some longhorns in Colorado, try his hand at ostrich farming in Texas, and dive for abalone in California--then prepare sumptuous meals on location with his signature East-West flair.
:o)

In a boat that small with snorkelling equipment...? Doesn't fit. You could be right, but maybe this guy was picking up a bundle that that had been placed underwater by somebody. Or maybe I watch too much television? lol

You have been sooooo busted!
If this guy *is* a poacher, I would assume he would have a police scanner with him...which means the idiot better turn himself in pretty soon or he's in DEEP doo-doo. Then again, maybe he's being and idiot and running away.

If his zodiac collided with a tug earlier, someone might want to send someone down under the tug - or any other ships that were nearby at the time- to take a look for little packages on the keel. Just in case. Not all limpets are shellfish.

I'm an East Coast guy, have fished a little bit in So Cal, but I read their fishing boards, but I believe there's a LOT of poaching of lobsters and abalones out there.

I wonder if the authorities are prepared for "a sumptuous meal with East-West flair".
To: John H K
I've taken a lot of shellfish (legal) with a small twelve foot boat with a hookah rig and free diving, too.
To: Kip Lange
I wouldn't mind having some abalone in custody.
