Benjamin Curtis, the 22-year old actor who portrays the Dell Guy in those bothersome computer commercials, was arrested late last night (2/9) on a marijuana possession charge, The Smoking Gun has learned. According to cops, Curtis was holding a "small bag of marijuana" when he was popped on Manhattan's Lower East Side (at Ludlow and Rivington for you Gothamites). Curtis is currently being held in Central Booking and is scheduled to be arraigned later today in Manhattan Criminal Court. Curtis, who lives in lower Manhattan, was charged with criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. Bonnie Shumofsky, the actor's agent, said she was unaware of her client's bust when contacted this morning by TSG. (1 page)

LOL But I gotta say, I loved the Dell guy. "Little dude, you're getting a Dell!" He was too funny. (Yes, I know he also had his detractors...) This will probably make it harder for a "comeback" :(

I'll bet you are a Libertarian. I can tell because they just want to sit around and smoke dope.

I'll bet you are a totalitarian. I can tell because they just want to sit around and throw people in the slammer.

Just goes to show what a bad commercial can do to you. You have to find relief in a mind numbing substance.

From the same document: "The debate proceeded along conservative-progressive lines. [...] Some southern conservatives expressed concern about the growing power of the federal government and the intervention of that government into local affairs."

And Roscoe is on the "progressive" side against the conservatives. Whaddayaknow.

Yes, Roscoe the 'progressive':

'"Although the Eighteenth Amendment would probably never have materialized except for the [Anti-Saloon] league," observed James H. Timberlake, a perceptive historian of the prohibition movement in the 1910s, "it is equally certain that the league would never have attained its success had not temperance reform been caught up in the progressive spirit itself."' Progressivism and prohibition were, in his view, closely related middle-class reform movements seeking to deal with social and economic problems through the use of governmental power.'

What not to do.

Ok, which is it?

Can folks make choices for themselves and be responsible for the consequences?
or
Are folks too stupid to make decisions for themselves and must be controlled?

but if we are too stupid to make decisions for ourselves how is it possible for someone to make decisions for others?

Before the War on Drugs was forced upon the American people...something around 2% of the American citizenry regularly (that being addicted) used drugs. That number is still around 2%. We certainly have gotten our tax money's worth. At least legalizing it will take away the huge black market profit margins. People who want drugs will always...ALWAYS...be able to get them.

Many of you are feeling bad for this guy. That is because you are crazy. This guy has no feelings. He is stoned. And the new interns are better.

Shoud we bring back a federal alcohol ban?

Last year, 17,448 were killed in alcohol-related crashes - representing 41 percent of all traffic deaths.

More than 500,000 Americans are injured annually in crashes involving alcohol.

The annual economic cost of alcohol-related crashes exceeds $114 billion.

How effective are the national campaigns against drinking and driving?

Alarmingly, the 2001 survey shows 25 million (one in 10) Americans surveyed reported driving under the influence of alcohol - nearly three million more than the previous year. Among young adults aged 18 to 25 years, almost 23 percent, drove under the influence of alcohol.

Unfortunately, there was little change in the rate of underage drinking. More than 10 million 12 - 20 year-olds reported drinking alcohol in the year prior to the survey. Of those, nearly 6.8 million (19 percent) were binge drinkers and 2.1 million (6 percent) were heavy drinkers.

Among the 12 to 17 year olds, underage drinking rates increased, with more than 17 percent using alcohol compared to approximately 16 percent in the year 2000. Link
