Conservative entrepreneur and provocateur Gene McDonald of Boca Raton often gets a rise out of liberals and Democrats. But he recently ran afoul of the organizers of an A-list conservative confab headlined by Vice President Dick Cheney.
McDonald, who markets in-your-face conservative stickers, T-shirts and other paraphernalia through his www.0cents.com Web site, was a vendor at the 30th annual Conservative Political Action Committee conference in Arlington, Va. Along with anti-United Nations, pro-gun and anti-Democrat offerings, his wares included "No Muslims -- No Terrorism" stickers and an "Islam: Religion of Peace" image with a swastika replacing the S in Islam.
CPAC officials told McDonald to remove his Islam-themed merchandise. McDonald said a conference organizer told him Cheney's staff had gotten wind of the stickers and voiced disapproval.
McDonald, a former Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee member, said "No Muslims -- No Terrorism" doesn't slam all Muslims, but "it slams the Muslims who did 9/11."
Some people seeing the stickers might not make that distinction, McDonald conceded. But, he said, bumper stickers aren't supposed to be subtle and "I want to push the envelope. I want to get on the edge with political satire."

I've often wondered if I actually saw the commercial when it ran that one time or did I see if afterwards.I saw it when it first ran.
I voted for Goldwater.

Hello Ruthie!
Good to see you back on here and, as usual, you are very observant re: the "journalist".

And then there's this modification of the DNC coordinated Rat.com logo:
to this (I suggested something along these lines and someone create this great graphic of that logo "unfurled")

So have the "rich". Don't try to persuade them with facts.

Looking close at the original, it appears that .COM does continue on but is folded. Hmm...you might not be far from the truth.

You ar[sic] enot[sic] being completely honest -- there was at least one journalist who appraoched[sic] you wearing his identification and who informed you, as he purchased the bumperstickers[sic], that they were indeed offensive... Apparently, you are lying like a true DC Media Whore...
And you write like one, too...
To: Seeking the truth
Well, Gene - I've met you, and I know that you are an honest, concerned citizen.
I've probably read pieces by this "journalist" and formed a completely different opinion of his "journalism".

Here's a slogan I created. Feel free to run with it:
VISUALIZE WORLD APPEASEMENT
"Peace in our lifetime"

thanks so much for that -- why don't you post your real name when you make smears like that?
To: D.C. Media Hor
You never answered Gene's rebuttal, so I guess it's not a smear, is it? ;-)

I was sick and visiting my parents right after CPAC.
Therefore, I was away from a puter for several days and I finally got a chance to catch up on some reading from those CPAC threads last night & today.
"Kill Gene - Marry his widow" was a good one!

Right after reading this thread yesterday, and still thinking about the events which produced it, I headed out to a dr.'s appt.
Reading a magazine in the waiting room there, I came across an article about Tavis Smiley with this title: "Sticking it to Whitey" or maybe it was "Needling Whitey", but you get the idea...
Hmmmmmm....Fascinating that sensitivity is only allowed to work one way...
